🚨 **URGENT NOTICE ** 🚨

**Important Pet Health Alert: Leptospirosis**

A confirmed case of leptospirosis has been identified in a dog in our area. This bacterial disease can be severe and is transmissible to other pets and humans.

🦠 WHAT IS IT?
Leptospirosis is a disease caused by infection with the Leptospira bacteria, which can be found in water, soil, and urine of infected animals.

🩻 SYMPTOMS:
- Loss of appetite
- Vomiting
- Lethargy
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and mucous membranes)
- Dehydration
- Drinking or urinating more than usual
- Weight loss
- Stiffness or muscle pain

‼ If your pet shows any of the above symptoms, contact your vet immediately! Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial. The disease can progress to kidney and/or liver failure. Some dogs may develop severe lung disease and rapid, difficulty breathing. Damage to the heart muscle has been suspected in some cases. ‼

✅ PREVENTION:
- Ensure your pet's vaccinations are up to date.
- Avoid letting your dog drink from or swim in rivers, lakes, ponds, marshy areas, or slow-moving or stagnant water.
- Keep your dog away from farm animals and wild rodents, including carcasses.
- Promptly clean up any pet waste in your yard.
- Monitor your pets for symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in urination.
