“ALL THAT IS GOLD DOES NOT GLITTER…”

This beautiful golden girl 💛 Skylar, and her caring mommy come in for her regular checks. Now 9 years old, she started feeling tired due to bouts of Colitis (large intestinal inflammation) and explosive diarrhoea. We realised she had unchecked High levels of Cholestrol despite being in ideal body condition. She was then placed on special Low fat intestinal food to help with this problem.

Upon a recurrent bout of colitis and deeper investigation after the diet change did not seem to help control her high cholesterol, the true culprit was discovered…she had an under active thyroid gland and was diagnosed with Primary Hypothyroidism.

Common signs include lethargy, weight gain, hair loss, skin/ear infections and inability to tolerate cold. Note that diarrhoea is also a sign but way less common than the others.

She returned this week to recheck her thyroid levels on her new medication, her cholesterol is back down to normal limits, her colon is behaving and she has an extra spring in her step 🔥🐶💪

Many things come with age and despite that you may think it is a natural process and that nothing can be done, quite the opposite is true. With a correct evaluation and diagnosis, we can keep our golden oldies feeling great and in optimal health once balance is restored to their system 👌💯🥳
