🐕 💞Chatsworth in the Swartland – 8th January 2025🐕 💞

Our first, and certainly not our last, "Steri Wednesday" sterilization program started well with our “gleesome th*****me”!🙌

Who said three’s a crowd when these three bumped the year off by joining “Balls must Fall” and ”Ladies without Babies” 🐕 🐕 🐕

💞We are super proud of their paw parents for making this choice 🐕 🐕 🐕 💞

We collected, sterilised and delivered three delightful doggos from Chatsworth. 🐕 🐕 Murungu and Snowy, little ladies of delight and then there was George, the “prince” of the pack. 🐕 🐕 🐕 💞 What can we say but more and more often we collect well-mannered joyful nunu’s who impress every hand that reaches out to pat them and reassures our vet that everything will run smoothly. No biting, no complications, only blissful behaviour from this th*****me.

Included in our day, we collected a young pup called Spot. Spot was not feeling very well. 😢He has chronic Coccidiosis which is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract. Sadly he may have an undeveloped immune system. Stress can trigger symptoms in some puppies, which is evident from the sores on his little body, so this lad has quite a recovery ahead of him.🙏

Luckily treatment is routine and effective so to be on the safe side he stayed over at the vet’s on Wednesday night. He is not out of the woods yet though, but was able to return to his foster mom, Katy, who was very happy to have him back in her care.

Please put your paws together and pray that he will be as right as rain, and please continue to help us end the cycle of suffering by sterilising your pets🐶🐱

🙏Christmas is a time of "giving", and it has been and gone for 2024 but "giving" does not need to be🙏

Last week Star Animal Project collected a little black dog that was no longer wanted. We just wanted to cry😭....... Christmas wanted to cry too. 😭 He was taken to Bergzicht Dierehospitaal for a check up. They did blood work and all is clear but as you can see, this poor soul has rickets🤬😭

This pup needs your help.......this pup spends his days walking abnormally, in constant pain in the bones in his legs and runs the risk of even fracturing them😵

He needs a properly balanced diet with vitamins and minerals, and this is where the Christmas spirit of "giving" will be a gift from God and from you. Nutrition, nutrition and more nutrition is needed. then hopefully his legs will straighten beautifully and he will put on some weight - then we can find a lovely new home for him.😞🙏🏠

If you have space in your heart and in your pocket to dig a little deeper into the "giving" box, can you help with Bravecto; Dewormers or some nutritious food high in phosphorus, vitamin D, and calcium. We are feeding him puppy food to start with but this pup must be switched to a complete and well-balanced diet moving forward.🙏🙏

😢we are still crying as he is so starved. Despite this neglect he has a forgiving soul with a kind and friendly nature. Let's not let him down🙏🙏🙏

Today was a ladies day with two gorgeous gals called Stacy and Kia from Chatsworth🐕 🐕 💞
They were both slightly nervous but non-nipping, non-biting lovely lasses who took the whole experience in their stride 🐕 🐕 💞
We picked them up and then returned them to their open armed paw parents who were overjoyed to have them back 🐕 🐕 💞

Remember Geesy, the lass being treated with chemotherapy for her TVT infection? Well, she had her 4th session yesterday and yay!!! her body is responding so well 🐕 🐕 💞
We firmly believe that the secret is in the biscuit she gets when it’s over 🤣🐕 🐕 💞

A touch of sadness did dampen our day though when we had to send a badly wounded doggo over the rainbow bridge 😭🌈 🐕 💔
To the bereaved pawparents all we can say is "May your cherished dog rest in peace."

🐾🐕 Remember last Wednesday we introduced you to Gessy, our beautiful boerboel X from Silvertown. The brave lady that is getting chemotherapy for TVT🤔Well yesterday was her 3rd session. And what a star she is🌟 After the chemotherapy, Angel Monica gave her a biscuit, aaah, she is so adorable. 💞💞She is responding well to the chemotherapy and we will see after next weeks session if she needs another 1 or 2 sessions.🐶Please continue to keep your paws together for a positive outcome🙏🐕🐾

🐕 💞Our Steri Wednesday's are bouncing with snips and even more snips. 🐕 🐕

🐈 🐕 🐕 💞 Today we had 2 doggos and 3 cats 🐈 🐕 🐕 💞 🐈
🐕 💞 A very camera shy bunch, but we managed to snap three of the five. 🐕 💞Vets were smiling and pleased with everyone🙌 Dean and Jessica, our favourite volunteers, were with us to lend a paw and we are sooooo grateful for their help 🫂

Sonic, a male German Shepherd cross was joined by Alfie, a female Jack Russell cross who behaved like a gent and lady are supposed to and covered Monica with kisses as they joined the ranks to help us fight the war against the cycle of suffering. 🐕 💞

🐕 💞The three kitcats were a motley crew of fur balls. Harley, previously rescued by our angel volunteers, Jessica and Dean and rehomed by them, made an appearance to get snipped. Then there was Kai, a big fluffy ginger ninja and lastly Mueeza, which means ‘one who loves others dearly”, “bringer of glory and might”, “one who appreciates others”, “one who grants honour to others” but I think they left out ‘ one who can’t stop tallking’, as she was a chatterbox of enormous proportions. All furries for the day were from Chatsworth and have helped take away the sadness of abandoned offspring by joining the ranks of "ladies without babies " and “ balls must fall”.

🐕 💞 On the way back to fetch our sterries for the day, we picked up a beautiful female Boerbul cross doggie called Gessy (strange spelling) who sadly has been diagnosed with TVT (transmissible venereal tumour).😭 She had her first round of chemotherapy today which she handled well. There will be another three to six sessions coming up so everyone please hold paws that she heals well. 🙏She also has a secondary infection and is being treated with doxycycline for that.😠

This is another reason why sterilizing your pets is so important. Sterilization doesn’t only slow down the rapid reproduction rates but reduces the likelihood of testicular, ovarian, uterine and/or mammary cancers. So poor Gesse could have been avoided of all this pain and suffering.😡

🐈 🐕 🐕 💞 Hello….hello!!!!!!! And we are back to help stop the cycle of suffering 🐕 🐕 🐕 🐕 💞 🐈

Today we had 3 doggos, Sky and Bekkie from Chatsworth, who both captured our hearts with their healthy well looked after little bodies and very sweet natures, and then cutie patootie Bonnie bounced into the mix from Riverside. Ivy, a ginger Non-Ninja kitcat, was the quietest little nunu imaginable on the car ride 🐈 a mew ”hello” was all we got from her or maybe it was a ”thank you” as she joined the “ladies without Babies” Movement💞

🐈 🐕 🐕 💞 Today we had 2 lady dogs, Aura and Polo, a tad timid and scared but delighted all the same to join the ‘no babies’ brigade and Bingo the Lone Ranger kitcat, who tolerated the cat box but not the car ride 🐈 wailing his sadness for all to hear💞 they were a well behaved th*****me all the same who passed their medical inspections with flying colors and charm 🐕 🐕 🐕 🐕 💞 🐈

🐕 💞 Vets were smiling and pleased with everyone 🐕 🐕 💞 Rabies vacs done and steri’s ran smoothly 🐕 💞

We added some non-steri woofers that needed attention to the mix🐕 💞 4 month old Roxy had a balloon for a tummy so we x-rayed but saw nothing. We de-wormed but nothing came out, so a course of anti-biotics was given. Let’s see what comes from that 🐕 💞

Then Lexi had a run in with a gate which unceremoniously ran over her toe 💞 🐈 Ouch!!! Anti-biotics for this lady too 🐕 💞 Compassionate care, modern medicine. 🐕 💞 Healing hands for paws.

🐈 🐕 🐕 💞 Today we had 4 doggo’s and the cutest most irresistible ginger bread tom kitten named Howie💞 3 female doggo’s and a male 🐕 🐕 🐕 🐕 💞 🐈

🐕 💞 Lucy and Colby were already pregnant but it was safe to terminate. We hate making decisions to terminate but these small steps we take for the community pets is a giant leap for Animal Welfare. We do it to prevent unwanted litters and besides it's not just a good idea, it's the Law 🐕 🐕 💞 Colby and Lucy were quite nippy but we think this was because they were scared. With these 2 ladies we are saddened by our action but did the right thing by helping stop the cycle of homeless pets 🐕 💞

Beautiful brindle lad German and Lady Roxy came from the same home 🐕 💞 sadly this was a stressful day as this group of doggo’s were extremely unhappy about the road trip and German gave Dean (our awesome volunteer) a challenging journey to the vet as he refused to get in the crate. 🐕 💞 Thank you thank you Dean, we wouldn’t have been able to do this steri run without you 💞 🐈 Luckily the return journey was uneventful as all the doggo’s were doo lah lah for a while so German was boxed before leaving

🐕 💞 What can we say - Spay or Neuter - A Humane Solution to Animal Overpopulation🐕 💞

💞 🐈 And then there was feisty Howie 💞 🐈He rode shotgun with Monica and was full of chat until the doggo’s arrived😁 not a peep from him until after the doggo’s were returned home and then the chat returned 💞 🐈 The ‘rose among the thorns’ joined the ‘balls must fall’ team but rumor has it that he is still ‘feisty Howie 💞 🐈

No doggo pics today as there were too many sharp teeth and snapping jaws to dodge but YAY!!!😻 We have one of Howie 💞 To neuter is cuter! Don’t you think? 🐕 🐕

A huge Thank You! to Sigrid, the owner of Putschi and Lumpi that donated R2000 towards our vet bill, currently standing on R15000. Sigrid had survived cancer for 15 years and passed away at the age of 76. Friends and family that attended the memorial brought a donation instead of flowers.
