On the last weekend of August 2020 my incredible husband surprised me with a trip to Clarens to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary 🥰
Little did he know it would become the most expensive wedding anniversary ever 😆
I instantly fell in love with the views and the desire to live in this “jewel of the Eastern Free State” fuelled my inspiration for Calibou ...
The more we explored this extremely dog-friendly village, the more I noticed that there weren’t any stores solely focused on serving the four-legged locals, or visiting furry tourists, and their parents 🤔
“I’m going to open a pet store” I thought.
But not a generic pet store like the ones you find in just about every shopping centre or mall across the country...
Rather an upmarket boutique promoting a sustainable lifestyle for dogs (and their humans) by showcasing the most beautiful, eco-friendly products handmade with love by South African artisans ✨
After talking through the idea with my husband, it was actually him who came up with the name for my canine lifestyle boutique - Calibou 🖤
And here we are, four months later, standing in my little shop which I am extremely proud of, eager to welcome you all and show off our incredible South African talent ✨
