International Tiger Day also known as Global Tiger Day was created in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia which is celebrated annually on 29th July to raise awareness for tiger conservation.
Two main aims for this day are as follows:
Conservation: prevent habitat destruction, combat poaching & support initiatives to protect tigers in their habitats
Raise awareness: Inform the public about the necessity of their conservation & the endangered status of tigers.
By protection the largest cat on earth's kingdom, we secure their future & other wildlife. Tigers are a top predator & keep the population of herbivores in check helping maintain the health of the grasslands & forests they call home.

I've had a rough time fighting with technology this week and this little black dog sums up what my face has looked like for I reckon 90% of the time I have been "fighting" 😂 I am VERY much a pen and paper gal and trying to learn all this new techno stuff & more importantly retain it has been an incredibly trying time for me. But, I am determined to keep trying and keep making each day count!

Today is World Snake Day. A day to celebrate one of the worlds most misunderstood and feared creatures. 🐍
There are around 3600 different species of snakes in the world with only 600 of these being venomous (that's less than 25%) and of these only 200 of them pose a risk to humans, making them nowhere near as worrying and scary as we think they are. We possibly give these animals a much harder time than they actually deserve.
World Snake Day is an important day to increase awareness of these beautiful creatures who have had something of a bad rep over the past few thousand years. If you find any interesting, fascinating or unknown to you previously a simple search will help to understand these creatures better.
Did you know:
-snakes are found in the seas, forests, deserts and grasslands on every continent on our planet except for Antartica.
- their numbers are declining due to deforestation & climate change affecting their habitats & decline in available prey
- the smallest snake is the Barbados Thread Snake aprox 10cm long
- the longest is the Reticulated Python
- the heaviest is the Green Anaconda
