New Years Celebration tips, though we hope that people will be sensible and not discharge fireworks, not everyone thinks the same. It's natural for pets to be scared of loud noises, we can just try make them feel as comfortable as possible.

โ—‡Designate a Safe Space
Designate a quiet, comfortable area in your home where your pet can retreat during fireworks.

โ—‡Microchip details
Ensure your pet's identification tags are up-to-date. In case they get startled and escape, proper identification is important. Virbac Backhome and Identipet are easy to access to update contact details/pet photo. It takes a few minutes. Unsure which provider? It should be listed in your pets vaccine card in most cases.
Collars with tags must have the correct Cell number on.

โ—‡ Walk/Play a Game
Earlier in the afternoon, take them for a walk or play a ball game to help reduce anxiety. A tired pet is generally calmer and more likely to relax during the fireworks. If your pet is not used to walks try a fun game at home.

โ—‡Close windows, curtains, and blinds to minimize both the noise and the flashing lights. Play soothing music or keep the TV on to distract them from the fireworks sounds. Your pet will be relaxed if you stick to your usual routine where possible.

โ—‡During the fireworks, your pet will pick up on your energy. If you are calm, it will reassure them.

โ—‡Give them their calming medication such as CBD oil Anxitane, Nutricalm or Calmeze with their regular meal or at least an hour or 2 before midnight. Anxitane & Calmeze needs to be given twice a day at least 2 days before. We wish it wasn't necessary to have to give such medications but out pets comfort is our priority

โ—‡ Pet Remedy calming spray can be sprayed in areas your pet frequents in the house.

โ—‡Keep a recent photo of your pet on your phone for easy identification, should your pet go missing.

โ—‡Outside pets MUST be brought indoors as they can, and will escape the property or severely injure themselves trying.

A little extra care goes a long way in ensuring the safety and comfort of our pets
