Our Products are DAFF registered and legally compliant

It has come to our attention that there are pages on Facebook claiming that our products are not registered with the DALRRD (DAFF). This is patently untrue and misleading. It seems someone with nefarious intentions is at work trying to malign our brand and products.

We are a brand that prides itself on compliance, transparency and integrity. Much of this information seems to be spread through closed groups, which in itself speaks to the modus operandi of the person or people involved in this.

We take this extremely seriously and assure our customers that our products are DAFF registered and compliant in every respect. If you look on either our website or our packaging you will see a valid V-Number on each - this is the DALRRD registration number.

Further, we also hold an Intertek certificate for Food Safety - which to the best of our knowledge no other raw brands have in South Africa. This is a stringency we took upon ourselves and is not a requirement for registering pet food with the DALRRD. A stringency we implemented to ensure the food you feed is safe and complies with all legal and regulatory requirements regarding food products.

While we do not know who is spreading the false information, we will never resort to slating other brands to promote our own. What we do is produce the best product we can and allow it to speak for itself.

If anyone has any doubts about any of our products or questions about our registrations, please feel free to contact us and we will supply you with as much information you need. We are working to have the false information removed or corrected by the pages allowing this misleading content to circulate.

If any of our customers become aware of such posts, please let us know so that we can address it with the pages or posts involved.

High moisture content in food is a cats’ best friend.

WHAT YOUR AGING CAT NEEDS MOST:

Aging cats, like all mammals entering their senior and geriatric years, are more likely to develop health problems, but one problem kitties tend not to have as they get older is obesity. In fact, it's common for cats to get thinner as they age, not heavier.

Research shows that 20% of cats 14 years and older don't digest protein efficiently. A compromised ability to digest both fat and protein is likely a major reason senior and geriatric cats lose both fat and muscle mass (sarcopenia). The cause of this phenomenon hasn't been identified, but one reason could be long-term consumption of ultra-processed cat food containing poor quality, inappropriate and hard-to-digest ingredients.

The quality of protein you feed your senior cat is of utmost importance. Highly digestible and assimilable protein, coupled with high moisture content, is the type of nutrition that causes the least amount of stress on your kitty's aging organs. If you can't feed fresh food (raw or gently cooked), second best is a dehydrated or freeze-dried balanced diet reconstituted with plenty of water or broth. Your cat's kidneys and liver can be further stressed as a result of chronic low-grade dehydration, so all foods served dry can pose a problem long term.

Moisture is an aging cat's best friend, so encourage yours to drink by offering a variety of glass, metal or food grade ceramic water bowls around the house or a drinking fountain, in addition to minimizing (or preferably eliminating) dry food.
