🐾 Keep Your Pet Healthy: Movement Matters! 🐾
Did you know up to 41% of dogs are overweight, with 5% classified as obese? Cats show similar trends—55% are overweight, 8% obese—increasing their risk for arthritis, diabetes & shorter lifespans .
These aren’t just numbers—they represent our pets. Lack of exercise is a leading cause of these troubling stats .
As temperatures dip, it’s tempting to skip walks—but winter doesn't mean hibernation:
❄️ Cold-Weather Exercise Tips:
Short, frequent walks. Below 0 °C, keep small breeds to 15–20 mins; above –6 °C, medium/large dogs can handle ~30 mins .
Dress warmly: jackets, booties, paw balm protect from cold, ice, salt .
Indoor fun: stair-climbing, tug-of-war, scent games, obstacle courses, treat puzzles—great when it's too cold outside .
Doggy daycare or indoor pools: supervised, climate-controlled spaces offer safe activity .
✅ Quick Winter Exercise Checklist:
Outdoor / Indoor
✔️ Short frequent walks ✔️ Obstacle course fun
✔️ Waterproof gear ✔️ Fetch, tug, treat games
✔️ Watch for shaking/lifting paws ✔️ Puzzle feeders & scent work
Keeping pets active in winter helps manage weight, joint health, and behavior. It’s about adapting, not stopping—so your furry friend can stay happy, healthy, and warm all season long!
💡 R.I.Pets Tip: “If it’s too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for them.” Adjust for breed, health, and age—and have fun together, whether indoors or out!
