January Recap: A Tough Start, But We Keep Going!

We’re a little late with our update, but better late than never! January has been a challenging month, probably for many of you too, but here’s what we accomplished:

🐶 New addition Rescues:
- 11 puppies
- 3 adults

🏡 Adoptions & Care:
- 7 dogs found loving homes!
- All adults were sterilized and vaccinated.
- The puppies received their vaccinations and dewormer.
- All rescues were treated for ticks and fleas, puppies with Frontline spray and adults with NexGard.

💥 The Big Challenge:
4 parvo-positive puppies arrived at our doorstep unexpectedly. It was a tough fight, but with the right care and treatment, we’re overjoyed to report they have fully recovered!

🌍 Outreach Impact:
Rescues aren’t all we do! In January, we provided over 70 dogs with a 15kg bag of food each, helping them stay fed and healthy.

Here are some pictures of our happy rescues in their forever homes, along with a few snapshots from our outreach.❤️

Thank you for standing with us!
Your support makes all of this possible.

Adoption Alert: Meet Bobby (a.k.a Bob-Bob, Bobson)!
🚫🚫🚫PLEASE KEEP SHARING🚫🚫🚫
Our charming gentleman Bobby is still searching for his forever home, and we won’t stop until he finds it!

At 8 years young, Bobby may be losing his eyesight, but that doesn’t stop him from being the most playful, trusting, and loving soul. Whether it’s going on adventures, enjoying leisurely walks, or soaking up the sun during his well-deserved naps, he knows how to enjoy life. And let’s not forget his love for food!

Bobby is the heart of our rescue, lovingly known as The Babysitter For almost 5 years, he’s been a stepdad and nanny to countless dogs who have come and gone, yet he’s still waiting for his own special place to call home. Now it’s his time, to find a loving retirement home where he can truly belong.

Details:
- Age: 8 years
- Neutered & vaccinated (up to date)
- NexGard-treated
- Gets along with other dogs
- Loves water—on his terms
- Enjoys food, cuddles, and of course, a firm handshake (because every gentleman knows it’s important!)

Let’s not let Bobby wait any longer. Could you be the one to give him the home he deserves?

Thank You to Pick n Pay Kingsburgh

We’re so grateful to Pick n Pay Kingsburgh for their incredibly generous donation—and for going the extra mile by adding some cans of food! It made such a difference today, and our rescues absolutely loved the special treat of canned wet food. It’s a welcome change from their usual meat and rice meals, and they definitely enjoyed every bite!

Your kindness means the world to us and our rescues. Thank you for helping us make their day a little brighter

This is the kind of disrespect that’s disheartening.

After covering R150 in fuel costs to help someone's dog get to the vet, this is the response we received. It’s important for the public to understand WE ARE A CHARITY!

Everything we do is fueled by kindness, donations, and sheer dedication to helping animals in need. We give our time, energy, and resources because we care, but we cannot do it alone.

A Huge Thank You to Pick n Pay Kingsburgh

We are beyond grateful to Pick n Pay Kingsburgh for their incredible donation of pet food today! Your generosity is already making a difference in the lives of those we support.

Meet Alex, he inherited his late father’s dogs, and while he loves them dearly, it has been a financial challenge to provide for them. Thanks to this amazing donation, Alex can breathe a little easier especially during JanuWORRY, when every bit of help counts.

Your support means the world to us and to those we assist. Thank you for helping us keep tails wagging and hearts full

🚩WHY DO WE HAVE TO ASK ADULTS TO BE KIND?🚩

Animal rescue is one of the most exhausting and thankless jobs out there. Every day is a constant battle, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Caring for over 30 plus dogs daily takes everything I have, yet on top of that, I'm flooded with calls and messages about animals that aren’t even in my care. Somehow, the responsibility always falls on rescuers to solve problems that others have created.

What many people don’t realize is that we don’t earn a salary for doing this. In fact, much of our OWN money goes into keeping the rescue running, paying for food, vet bills, shelter, and everything else these animals need to survive. On top of this, we still have to work regular jobs just to make ends meet, because rescue doesn’t pay the bills.

And despite all of this, we’re still met with criticism. It’s frustrating to see people sitting behind their screens, picking apart minor details, questioning our efforts, or spreading misinformation without understanding the reality of what we do. If a response is delayed, it’s not because we don’t care, it’s because we’re out there, feeding, cleaning, and doing the hard work that no one else wants to do.

Right now, I’m caring for four sick puppies with parvo, providing round-the-clock treatment, feeding them every 45 minutes, and hoping they make it through. And while all of this is happening, we're still trying to juggle everything else, because the work never stops.

The truth is, rescuers are exhausted. We give everything we have, yet it never feels like enough. So before you judge or criticize, take a moment to ask yourself, what are YOU doing to help?

More than anything, we need support, not negativity. A little kindness goes a long way, and on the hardest days, it’s what keeps us going.

A Nameless Soul...

Imagine living an entire year without a name, without love, and without safety. For this dog, that has been his reality. No kind words, no gentle touch, only pain and neglect.

When we arrived, we saw the damage, his eye, injured beyond repair, his limp, a painful reminder of the cruelty he’s endured. The person who reported him told us of the beatings he suffered when his owner lost their temper. We can only imagine the fear and confusion he must have felt every day.

When we asked his owners to surrender him, they simply handed him over without a second thought. No apology, no emotion—just indifference. To them, he was never more than a burden. But to us, he’s a life worth saving.

Now, he needs us all. He needs x-rays to determine the extent of his injuries and immediate vet care to begin healing. We’ve promised him that he’ll never feel pain like this again, but we can’t do it alone.

Please, help us keep our promise. Every donation, no matter how small, will go toward his vet care and the new beginning he so desperately deserves and if you're willing to open your heart and home to him, it would be the greatest gift.

❗️❗️❗️❗️Will You Be My Family?❗️❗️❗️❗️

For most of my little life, I’ve only known the dense, lonely bush. I don’t know what it’s like to sleep in a warm bed, have my belly full every day, or feel the gentle touch of someone who truly loves me.

I’m Jacu, just 7 weeks old, and I’ve already lived through so much. I’ve been sprayed with water to keep me away, searching for scraps just to survive. All I’ve ever wanted is one kind person to see me—not as a nuisance, but as a little soul yearning for love and safety.

They say I’m handsome, and they tell me I’m strong for surviving this long. But I don’t want to be strong anymore. I just want to be held, cared for, and loved.

I need someone who can give me the one-on-one attention I’ve never had. Someone to show me the world isn’t all harshness and fear. I promise I’ll be the most loyal companion you could ever ask for.

If you have room in your heart for a puppy who’s never had a chance to be loved, please, let me be yours.
