A few more snaps from an amazing Community Engagement Outreach Sterilisation Clinic over the weekend.
This one was held in Frasers, Tongaat.
SAFE have been working diligently in the area, since the Tongaat tornado.
Knowing that Dr Khan is accredited by SAVC - South African Veterinary Council to be able to conduct Outreach Clinics, they approached us requesting assistance with organizing a sterilisation clinic in the area.
With all the feeding and treatments of the animals in recent weeks, there has been an astounding improvement in the condition of the animals preceding the clinic.
This made our job easier, as it minimized the risk for complications with procedures.
Ongoing education and owner compliance is so important.
Shaun and Kerry have been stars, offering constant support to the community.
There were so very many roleplayers involved, each contributing significantly toward making such a clinic a success.
Much work goes into planning behind the scenes and our practice closes its doors for a few days on either side of Outreach clinics, to take our equipment and consumables into the community to set up a functional theatre and then to return and set up our clinic again.
Our team put a great deal of effort into ensuring a streamlined process.
We sure were treated to lovely meals and accommodation throughout our stay.
A huge thank you to Kelly for arranging free stock of Nobivac DAPPV (5 in 1 Vaccination) and Nobivac Rabies Vaccination from MSD Pets SA. Vaccination is key for preventing the spread of disease. 💉
A huge thank you to Tarryn for a massive cat and dog food donation from Purina Pro Plan. No more hungry animals in Frasers for a while.🐾🐾
An excess of 60 sterilisations were done over 2 days, with heaps more animals being vaccinated for the duration of the clinic.
We are so humbled by the feedback we have received from the community, while we were there and since we returned home.
Not only have animal lives been impacted, but also the hearts of the people within the community.
It has been a privilege working alongside so many wonderful organisations, professionals, volunteers and a cheerful, colourful community.
Also a word of thanks to our nearest and dearest, for taking the time to come all the way to Tongaat to entertain us with live music on the last day of the clinic, for taking some of these photographs and for helping us with packing, hauling and offloading on Sunday. You are all appreciated. 🤍
With love,
Dr Nazmira Khan & the Pulse Veterinary Clinic team.
