Our special guy got all glammed up on Saturday for a very special unicorn party.

This pony is truly amazing, balloons popped, kids ran and screamed with fun and excitement just close by and he stood patiently while lots of little hands were colouring on him through all of this Coco was an absolute legend!

It's been 3 full months that I have had Willow at the yard. She is so amazing, I absolutely love working with her. As we think she is only 3 years old and had almost no muscle along her back and hindquarters I have taken her training very slow. She absolutely loves her sessions, and looks very sad when I'm too busy to do a training day.

Our stage 2 for the big riding space is finally finished. Our beautiful Willow gave it her approval. Thank you EGD Specialists cc for another 3 stunning loads of arena sand. Honestly not a single stone or rock in all 3 loads today!

Still lots to do around the yard eg. more seating, and a nice waiting swing-play area to come.

Dusty & tiered (Yip I can use a spade, rake and now I am master of the plate compressor) but oh so happy!

Stage 2 is on the move. Thank you EGD Specialists cc (Tracy and Kenny) and MD Tool Hire (Mark). Our bigger riding space has compressed beautifully and I am now so excited for arena sand.

We know we feel more at peace when we are around our ponies, but when science backs it up…..

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′healing′′ that occurs when we're close to horses.

According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body.

While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can feel better when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.

A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace.

In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy.

Exciting day at our little yard.

Making a bigger and better riding space for independent riders to work in.
The swings and gymnastics bars are being relocated so we have some decent straight line trotting space now.
Next step...more leveling and then sand so we won't be slipping and sliding in mud.

April is for ore than just Autumn (although at the moment I am spending a lot of time raking leaves), it's for Autism Awareness and Acceptance. For those of you that know me, you know I am passionate about the "therapeutic" element of interacting with horses. So to celebrate this wonderful month I decided Coco and I should have a little fun "selfie shoot" with my rainbow umbrella.

I absolutely love all my autistic riders that do my equine interaction sessions, we honestly sometimes have so much fun singing and being silly together. It has been so wonderful seeing these children grow in confidence, balance, co-ordination and strength.

Our wonderful Coco was needing a horsey friend, this beautiful girl definitely has Coco looking like he needs to borrow some stilts.
She is a long way from being as safe as our main man, but welcome to the family beautiful girl (myself and Coco can't wait to teach you to not be scared anymore)

Sand glorious sand, thank you Tracy Mann for the delivery today. This sand is gorgeous! Not a single stone or rock, just soft sand that will have Coco's legs feeling like he is trotting on a cloud.

I heard about this recently from a friend whose OT recommend this for her child. The gentle rocking rhythm for the rider on their spine would definitely encourage circulation to this specific area and aid in removing cell waste and toxins even when the riders abilities may otherwise be very limited.
Amazing how just sitting on the walking horse may benefit us.
