Itchy cat ?? Does your cat bother you with all the scratching and constant grooming? Are wounds / scabs starting to form over their bodies ?
Your cat might be suffering from "Feline Atopic Skin Syndrome".

The most common causes are 1) Environmental allergens and pollens 2) FOOD 3) Fleas 4) Bacterial pyoderma.

Treatment depends on the cause but obviously first rule out fleas and ticks, then make sure there is no fungal or bacterial infection on the skin, consider a hypoallergenic diet and then medication (cortisone / cyclosporins / Apqoquel / Immunotherapy) ....
Please contact you vet - no one treatment fits all cats but when we know what we are treating, life can get tons better ...

Addison's disease in dogs ...
The adrenals are at fault here - they make to little CORTISOL or ALDOSTERONE hormones , so these pets can't cope with stress and their electrolytes are all over the place.

Early signs can be vague with just lethargy and depression and a lack for willingness to get up, but later symptoms can include :

- weight loss
- increased water intake + urination
- shaking / tremors
- VOMITING
- DIARRHEA
- lethargy and weakness
- collapse

These pets have to be seen by a vet, blood tests and normally and ultrasound + xrays + urine testings have to be done in order to determine the stage and level of treatment required - but the CAN be TREATED very successfully !!

We are seeing a HUGE surge in DIARRHEA cases ....
When to panic ??
* a short course of mild diarrhea can be treated with a bland diet (chicken / egg / beef + rice /pasta + pumpkin) for 3-5 days
* as long as your pet is alert and bright - you can continue with home treatment
* Diomec / Protexin / Pro kolin / Gastropect / Pectrolyte - are some of the over the counter products you can safely give
* remember FRESH CLEAN WATER at all times !!
* if the diarrhea does not decrease or clear within a few days - a VET VISIT is required
* any vomiting or BLOOD in the f***s - will require an immediate VET VISIT
* PUPPIES under 6 months, are generally encouraged to visit a vet, if the diarrhea persists for more than 1 day
* Please remember to take a sample (5ml ) of the "poo" along when you go to the vet - it really helps to make a quick and accurate diagnosis

Why does mom get her knickers in such a twist when I bring her lovely pressies from the garden? I mean, honestly, I spent AGES stalking that bloody leaf. AGES! And don't get me started on the lizard tail kerfuffle - that was top-notch merchandise, that was!

I'm merely trying to pull my weight in this household, but every time I proudly prance through the cat flap with my findings, she goes all barmy with this daft "WHAT IS THAT?!" shriek. Oi, it's called being thoughtful, mum. 🙄

And yes, those muddy paw prints on the white settee? That's proper interior design.

It is hard work to let broken bones heal again !!
Ask Bella and Dr Spock here .. Bella collided with a car and broke her pelvis in multiple places. A plate and sacro-iliac screw were required to hold everything together and today madam is tracking in the fields again. Dr Spock - not sure how he broke the growth plate in his femur - but a few pins later and the big man was snoring away happily. This would all not be possible without an incredible team and incredible owners, that do the post-operative care !! Thank you !!

Hallo world - my name is Sniffels. I am a handsome boy but I had a few problems. I could not breathe ( my nose was too flat - my nostrils too narrow and my soft palate was way too long and blocking my airways ) and my intestine was bulging out next to my tail ( perineal hernia ) so things were a bit awkward and painful ... The lovely ladies of Odin and the vets at Eden small animal hospital, decided to help met though and I was castrated, my perineal hernia was repaired and all my intestines are now in my tummy, and soft palate was resected and my nose was opened - so now I can breathe normally !! Jippeee hooray - here I come life !!
