What is the difference between Organic and Bio-Organic?

The principal difference lies in the use of antibiotics. “Organic” allows the use of antibiotics with the criteria that the permitted withdrawal period post usage of the antibiotics is double that of non-organic food. Therefore, the meat is likely to have had exposure to antibiotics. “Bio” is a highly regulated term in Europe, with zero-tolerance policy to the presence of anything non-biological including chemicals, antibiotics, pesticides, and any form of chemical preservatives or flavourings. Animals must be fed on bio-feed and raised humanely respecting animal welfare. “Bio” is also a term that refers not just to the ingredients but also the process through which food is produced. ABCert regulates the process to make sure that during the production of the food there is no risk of contamination.

Our Sous-Vide Cooking Process:

Our raw ingredients are cooked anaerobically from raw at minimum temperatures in air tight BPA-free cans, offering a canned “health on a shelf” alternative to fresh or frozen. The first time these ingredients meet oxygen is when the can is opened. This “sous-vide” method maximises the taste of food as well as ensuring zero leaching of fatty acids and nutrients to cooking water or oxidization.

Rockster foods can be used in addition to dry/processed, home-cooked, raw and other wet diets. Many experts believe that it is ESSENTIAL to add fresh or a high quality wet food to a dry or kibble diet in order to avoid chronic dehydration.

Dogs need moisture in their diet to maintain healthy kidneys and are supposed to have at least 60% moisture in their diet. This is evidenced by clinical research studies as well as research on what a dog’s biologically appropriate diet should be. However, dry foods contain only 8%-10% moisture.

From the outset we could never understand why The Rockster never wanted to eat commercial pet foods, choosing to eat our leftovers and in hindsight most of his lone adventures resulted in us finding him in restaurants.
