With cat breeding season in full swing, you may notice more cats roaming in search of mates. Did you know that cats can come into heat as early as 4-5 months of age and have their first litter shortly after? 😮 That means more kittens to cats that are still “babies” themselves. Is that fair?

Preventing unwanted litters is crucial, and the best way to do this is by having your cat sterilized. Not only does it help control the cat population, but it also improves your cat's health and reduces the chances of them roaming far from home.

Make a responsible choice and protect young cats from the strain of early pregnancy. Schedule your cat’s sterilization with us at Cottage Vet. 🐱❤️

📞 Don’t let your cat’s next adventure turn into a surprise! Call us today at (021) 856-2746 to schedule a sterilization appointment.

Cats are masters at hiding pain, so it's important for pet parents to be aware of the subtle signs of discomfort. Is your cat:

🔹 Moving less or hesitant to jump?
🔹 Becoming more withdrawn or irritable?
🔹 Struggling with grooming?
🔹 Using the litter box less frequently?

These could be signs of arthritis, a common condition in older cats. But there’s good news! 🐱

Introducing Solensia, 💉 a new monthly injection that provides relief from arthritis pain with minimal side effects. This treatment option is similar to Librela, used successfully in dogs, and offers new hope for improving your cat's quality of life.

Regular vet exams are essential to spot these early signs and ensure your cat is getting the care they need. Don’t wait—schedule your cat’s annual exam with us at Cottage Vet and ask about Solensia!

Gallbladder mucocoeles are a serious condition caused by the abnormal buildup of thick, mucus-like bile. If left untreated, it can lead to life-threatening issues for your dog.

Watch for these warning signs:

Vomiting 🤢
Lethargy 💤
Loss of appetite 🍽️
Abdominal pain 🐾
Yellowing of the eyes or gums (jaundice) 👀

Early detection is crucial! If your dog shows any of these symptoms, contact us for a check-up and ultrasound. Regular vet visits, especially for dogs over the age of 7, can help catch this condition early – routine blood work often picks it up before serious problems develop.

Don't wait! Prioritize your dog's health with annual check-ups. 💙

World Animal Day continues the tradition of celebrating the invaluable presence and contributions of animals in our lives. This global observance aims at raising awareness about animal rights, promoting ethical treatment, and advocating for better welfare standards. It’s a day where animal lovers and welfare organizations come together to work towards a more harmonious co-existence with the animal kingdom.

History of World Animal Day:

The celebration of World Animal Day traces back to 1931 when a group of ecologists in Florence, Italy, chose October 4th – the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, to highlight the plight of endangered species. Since then, the observance has evolved to encompass all animals and the issues they face, garnering support and recognition from diverse groups and individuals worldwide.

World Animal Day is not just a one-day affair but a stepping stone towards creating lasting change in the way animals are treated and perceived. Through collective efforts, we can work towards a more compassionate world where every creature is respected and valued.

After every walk, make sure to do a quick tick check on your pet!

Ticks love to hide in fur and can lead to serious health issues. Here’s a simple guide to check for ticks and keep your furry friend safe:

✅ Thoroughly Inspect Fur: Look through your pet’s fur, especially around ears, neck, and between toes.

✅ Check for Unusual Bumps: Feel for any unusual lumps or bumps.

✅ Use a Tick Removal Tool: If you find a tick, use a proper tick removal tool to ensure it’s fully removed.

Tick prevention is crucial for your pet's health. Our reception staff is ready to advise you on the best tick prevention products tailored to your pet's needs.

Stay vigilant and keep those walks safe! 🌟
