CALF & MOM
For those who were concerned about the cow and her calf in Oatlands today, SPCA have checked and have been in contact with Dr Annie who commented as follows: "The calf and mother appear to be in good condition. The calf is very large for its size and the mother is likely very exhausted with heat and perhaps thirst compounding the issue. She has a big udder and the calf was observed drinking".
We request that the public do not approach mom or the calf as the mother is extremely protective over her calf! SPCA will monitor.

COOPER IS NEUTERED🐕
Pixie-like Cooper was neutered as part of Project Amadoda funded by Animal-Kind International. He wouldn't stand a chance against the big dogs. Stay safe, Cooper!

ANOTHER ADOPTION🎉
Our hearts are so happy😁. Misty, aka Fireworks, our little fireworks stray, has been adopted! Thank you for adopting from the SPCA Grahamstown and for giving Misty a 2nd chance!

A SOLUTION FOR DANGER ....
Following on from the spaying of 3 female dogs at a farm after report about welfare concerns, the SPCA arranged for Danger, the male dog to be neutered too. Thanks to Animal-Kind International for funding for Project Amadoda, a neutering programme for male dogs. All the dogs received Nexgards from the Good D.O.G
Fund, a top-up grant from Animal-Kind International, and the owner was given education on the importance of parasite treatment. Sterilization saves lives!

A SOLUTION ...
Our SPCA received a call about welfare concerns of dogs living on a farm about an hour outside of Grahamstown/Makhanda. Our Inspectorate team travelled to investigate and although the dogs were well fed, they were covered in ticks and the 3 girls kept producing litter after litter. They spoke to the owner as well as his employer and as he wanted to keep the dogs, the SPCA offered to arrange to sterilize them to prevent any further litters. Dr Clayton of Grahamstown Vet Clinic offered to spay Chloe, Sibi and Lady on their Pauline Henson Trust Fund. More to follow on Danger, the male dog, and parasite treatment ...
The dogs received a very warm welcome home! Sterilization saves lives! Thank you to everyone who supports the SPCA Grahamstown keeping our staff and vehicle on the road, making it possible to assist animals in need.

GIFTS FOR THE ANIMALS 🎄
Thank you to Jean Rodgerson of REMAX Frontier and her grandchildren, who visited the SPCA Grahamstown on Thursday, with gifts of food for the SPCA animals❤️. We always need food and are so grateful for this lovely donation🐕🐈.

UPDATE ON OUR KITTIES
One of the tabby twins has been adopted🎉! Thank you for adopting from the SPCA Grahamstown! The other tabby twin is still available ... he is gorgeous!
The calico female has had her front leg amputated on Wednesday due to an old injury that set incorrectly, but the good news is that her adopter mom still wants to adopt her!

ALL WE WANT FOR CHRISTMAS 🎼🎶....
If only our wish could come true ... a forever home for Bugs and Biscuit🙏.
Bugs and Biscuit, 2 adult, male JRs, first lost their owner and then their home, then they were adopted but the adoption cancelled due to irregularities, and Bugs and Biscuit find themselves in the SPCA kennels.
We would prefer to adopt them out together, and to a patient owner who will give them time to adjust to their new home.
Not good with cats, other dogs or livestock and a secure property needed.
Bugs (the round one😂) will take time to warm up to strangers, whereas Biscuit (the taller one) is more outgoing and full of beans! They both love to play ball so thank you Santa Cause for Paws for the toys!🥎
All applications will be considered and the BEST home selected. Out of town applications are welcome too, provided that the applicant comes to the kennels to meet them.

STAFF HAMPERS - THANK YOU!
To all the wonderful people who donated to our staff Christmas hampers - our sincere appreciation🙏. Your generosity made it possible to gift Maloli, Lee, Sive, Bonisile and Phillip, Rasta and Nobanana with lovely hampers, as well as treats for Margie, Brian and Anna at the Charity Shop.
In a handover of the parcels by Chairman, Gary Watkins, staff were thanked for their hard work during the year and for their ongoing commitment to the SPCA Grahamstown and animal welfare in our area. Our Inspectorate team missed the presentation as they were attending to a never-ending list of emergencies and callouts, but received their parcels on their return.
