SAY "NO" TO FIREWORKS
If you have money to spend on fireworks, please rather donate pet food to an animal shelter like the SPCA, or buy some food for a family in need.
Let's make the arrival of 2025 a compassionate and peaceful one and say NO to fireworks!

BAKABAKA'S INJURY
Male dogs often have terrible injuries inflicted upon them by humans or other dogs, when they are chasing after females😔.
Bakabaka's owner asked the SPCA Grahamstown to assist with a dreadful gash on his neck which required sutures and a drain (the blood on his chest in the photo shows that the drain is working). In addition to his neck wound repair, Bakabaka was also gifted with a neutering, all sponsored by Animal-Kind International as part of Project: Siyeza, Vukani.

BATHATHE'S WOES
Poor Bathathe was in a bad way. He had a nasty dose of mange and a pe**le prolapse - poor boy😭. But it got worse because when the SPCA Grahamstown took him to the vet for his pe**le prolapse (and obligatory neutering), he was diagnosed with TVT😳. We will be seeing Bathathe regularly for his TVT treatments. Bathathe has also received treatment for his mange so should be feeling much better soon. This was all made possible by the top-up funding received from Animal-Kind International, making the impossible, possible.

ANOTHER PROLAPSE
Mabhityile of Joza, Makhanda/Grahamstown had a very bad pe**le prolapse that the SPCA Grahamstown were asked to check out for his owners. The prolapse was so far advanced that a day or two would result in the blood supply stopping and imminent death if not treated in time.
The top-up grant awarded to the SPCA Grahamstown by Animal-Kind International made it possible for Mabhityile to receive surgery (and an obligatory neutering)! Mabhityile was returned to his very grateful owners.

VLEKKIE
The top-up funding, Good D.O.G. fund, sent to the SPCA Grahamstown from Animal-Kind International came just in time for Vlekkie of Hoognoeg🚒.
Vlekkie was diagnosed with a very badly broken front ankle and her leg would need to be amputated or she would need to be euthanised. Vlekkie comes from a loving home, she is sterilized and her family were willing to provide her with the necessary post-op care to assist with her recovery. In discussions with her owner, it was decided to proceed with the amputation. Vlekkie has made a remarkable recovery and is managing on 3 legs.
Thank you Animal-Kind International for making it possible for us to assist this most special girl💕.

PROLAPSE DECEMBER🥴
We are coming across more and more cases of male and female dogs with prolapses.
Roxy was one of them and it was affecting her health and demeanour. Roxy was treated by the vet and then spent a week at the SPCA Grahamstown kennels to recover and then went back to the vet to be spayed. Roxy's owners were so worried about her and were delighted to have her back home. No more litters or prolapses for Roxy.
Thank you to Animal Kind International for the top up grant funding which enabled us to treat and spay Roxy!

AN UPDATE ON DOUGIE
Dougie (Romeo) was adopted from the SPCA Grahamstown last week. We received a lovely message from his family:
"Dougie after a big game of tug of war. He loves his new home - sleeps through the night in his doughnut upstairs with us. He is such a good boy with excellent toilet manners. He is very affectionate but still a bit scared of other dogs and strangers. He is a star and we are very proud of him."⭐

We are so proud of Dougie too🤗.
