REX IS NOT NEUTERED🫣
When our team came across Rex we discovered that he had other health issues - he had a severe groin infection so his neutering had to be postponed. His groin wounds were cleaned and he received strong pain killers and antibiotics, as well as kennel rest at the SPCA. These poor male dogs😭.
Thank you Project Anadoda from Animal-Kind International for covering Rex's costs.

Warning! Sensitive photo.

BOBBY GOES HOME
In mid September we had a frantic call from Bobby's owner saying it looked like he had been stabbed. The SPCA team rushed Bobby to the vet where he was x-rayed to reveal that the knife had just missed his lung!
Who could do such a wicked thing to an elderly, little dog?
Bobby was stitched up, kept overnight at the vet's and returned to the kennels for a long recovery period. He was on heavy meds enjoying the tasty tinned food that concealed all the pills!

Bobby was returned home at the beginning of October to his grateful owner. Stay at home, please Bobby, and stay safe🙏. He was already neutered.

Thank you to the Good D.O.G. Fund 2 from Animal-Kind International that arrived just in time to help sweet Bobby and thank you to our amazing staff who go above and beyond to help.

BROWNIE & TILLY ARE SPAYED
Brownie and Tilly were spayed recently by the Grahamstown Veterinary Clinic/Pauline Henson Trust Fund. The SPCA team came across these two dogs during their fieldwork and their owners asked if they could be spayed. The Fund stepped in to make a lasting difference for both these girls! Thank you to the late Pauline Henson, Grahamstown Veterinary Clinic and the SPCA Grahamstown staff!

TIPSY IS NEUTERED 🎉
Tipsy was neutered by Project: Amadoda funded by Animal-Kind International. Tipsy has had his fair share of trouble, evident by the wound on his head! This was also cleaned up and treated while in surgery. Stay safe, Tipsy🙏.

THANK YOU ...
Tanya Ackerman for the most wonderful delivery of tin food with Checkers Sixty/60 on Wednesday. We are so grateful to have tempting food to smuggle tablets in for the dogs receiving treatment at the kennels (and those that need a little spoiling) 🤗. Your kindness is very much appreciated ❤.

RING THE BELL FOR BROWNIE TOO 🔔
Brownie, another TVT patient, went home on Monday. Brownie had been waiting for weeks at the SPCA kennels receiving TVT treatment, and now she finally went home spayed with a clear bill of health.
Some owners are not even aware that there dogs have TVT - sometimes we get calls for dogs dripping blood and TVT is diagnosed. If caught early it can be treated successfully.
Thank you to the absolutely awesome Good D.O.G Fund from Animal-Kind International for the funding to save Brownie's life!

RING THE BELL FOR BABY FACE🔔
Baby Face was neutered in July by the Good D.O.G. Fund from Animal-Kind International, only to discover that he had TVT .... So, the treatments started and Baby Face stayed at the kennels for numerous weeks receiving weekly treatment for TVT. Baby Face went home on Monday after his final treatment 🎉🎉. BONBON SURVIVES IBUPROFEN POISONING
Bonbon's owner contacted the SPCA Grahamstown for assistance as Bonbon was very ill. The owner had self-medicated Bonbon with Ibuprofen😱. Fortunately our staff knew that ibuprofen is highly toxic to dogs and he was rushed to the vet 🚑 and diagnosed with Ibuprofen poisoning and biliary. Bonbon spent 4 days at the vet receiving treatment. Thank you to the Good D.O.G. Fund from Animal-Kind International for stepping in to assist with Bonbon's costs.
Please DO NOT give human medication to your pets without consulting a veterinarian - it could be fatal. Bonbon was extremely lucky to have survived. Bonbon will be sterilized at a later date.

SPOTTIE IS NO. 1🥇
Spottie was the first dog to be neutered on Project: Amadoda, funded by Animal-Kind International.
He was the only male from his group that didn't have any other health issues🫣!
Go well, Spottie and enjoy a gentler life! Sterilization saves lives!

PUMA HAS BEEN ADOPTED🎉
When Puma's adopters came to fetch her, she knew that bakkies meant adventure! (Don't worry - she had a human in the back with her)😁.
Thank you to everyone who networked Puma to find her an awesome home, and to the adopters for adopting from the SPCA Grahamstown!
Have many great adventures with your family, Puma!

GOOD NEWS WEDNESDAY🤩
The bad news - The Good D.O.G. Fund has come to an end😢. This special top-up grant from Animal-Kind International helped the SPCA Grahamstown cover emergency vet treatments and sterilizations for animals we came across in our fieldwork - animals who otherwise might not have received help they desperately needed.
With the end of the fund, we couldn't imagine going back to not being able to offer positive outcomes where it was possible😭.
The good news ...
Animal-Kind International felt the same way and sent us a further top-up grant- the Good D.O.G. Fund 2🎉🤩🐶🫏🐈🚑!
HOW AMAZING IS THAT????
Thank you to everyone from Animal-Kind International who made this possible🙏.
All the funds are allocated to animal care, and running costs are covered by SPCA Grahamstown. Visit wwww.animal-kind.org
