ANOTHER SNAKE BITE ENDS IN TRAGEDY !

We had another tragic case that we want to share to raise awareness about the dangers of snake bites for our pets. We were called out to Grootbrak to attend to a dog that was bitten by a snake, but despite quick action he did not survive.

Snake bites are a serious threat, especially during warmer months when snakes are more active.

⚠️ Signs of a snake bite are:

- Sudden yelping or vocalization
- Swelling, especially around the bite area
- Puncture wounds (often two small holes)
- Drooling or foaming at the mouth
- Rapid or labored breathing
- Weakness or collapse
- Pale or discolored gums

If you suspect your dog has been bitten, stay calm and keep your pets still. Movement can cause the venom to spread faster through the body. Do not apply ice or a tourniquet, as this can cause more harm than good, carry your pet, and get him/her to the Vet immediately.

This poor boy’s passing is a devastating reminder of how crucial it is to act quickly when dealing with snake bites. We urge all pet owners to stay vigilant and educate themselves about snake bite risks in their area. 🙏

Not too long ago I was surrendered by my family. They are moving to a new house and cannot have me anymore. 🥺💔

While they were packing boxes with all the household goodies, I was unaware that I would end up at the shelter and not in our new home together. 😢

After my basic assessment at the shelter, I will be looking for my new forever home. 🙏💙
