Yesterday was particularly hot in the Lowveld and here Oom Len, the male Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) is cooling down. As they get older they have less teeth but enough to do the job.

After 5 years of keeping our prices the same we have increased our adult entry from R150 to R160. Children under 13 go from R80 up to R90, under 5's are free. Pensioners will stay at R110.

This is Osama who helps out on the weekends and lives in Sand river. Yesterday he was assisting with cleaning the Black Mambas (Dendroaspis polylepis) water bowl. You can see a very relaxed snake lying on the rock behind. Osama has come a long way since first arriving as a casual worker.

Our Southern African Pythons (Python natalensis) are enjoying their new enclosure and have no more problems with the bacteria that was affecting them before. It's an open cage with a mesh top so they get the full pleasure of the sun.

Yesterday our albino Burmese Python (Python bivittatus) laid a clutch of eggs. We had an idea she was carrying but they arrived a bit sooner than expected. The male is nearby because of the heat lamp above so we will move the eggs to an incubator. They are classed as alien invasive species and a permit is required to keep them in our area.
