An AMAZING human Mommy, with a broken heart 💔 because she lost her JR girl, fell in love with our scared and fearful JACK the moment she saw him 🙏💚. She didn't care that he was scared, shy and older! She saw his potential......., the rest is history. These pictures were taken within a few days after he was adopted!

😱 We are not lying when we say this super adorable and loveable boy is BIG! Seriously big 😱
We named him BIG BEN and when you watch the videos you will see many smaller dogs will be afraid of him (Dricus might even take a second look 😄). If we didn't know better we would have believed this CHATTY and vocal boy is a politician 🤣.
O yes, and if allowed BIG BEN loves to take a drive in your car 🚗 (just ask the kind gentleman who brought him to safety 😁).
We can't believe that his family is not missing his spot in their home 😔

🐾🐕 We all know that post that says: "When adopting a pet please take time to meet the scared ones, the shy ones, the ones that don't stick out, the ones with boring colours or missing limbs, the older and frail ones.......". This older JR boy was terrified and scared 😞😞. It took somebody sitting in his kennel for a long-long time without making eye contact before he started coming out.....💔💔
They all deserve better, they all deserve homes 🏡

☀️❗For Africanis month Chester's story stands as a shining example of what these dogs can be. Loyal, loving, caring and affectionate. So frequently overlooked for the "better" breeds, the Africanis is a prime contender for a wonderful companion, right up there with the best of breeds 💛🐾💛🐾💛
💔🥺 When Chester (Africanis) was surrendered to Heidelberg SPCA we honestly had little hope of rehabilitating him. He was the most petrified, traumatized dog that no one could approach. He cowered in his bed, rarely coming out. When anyone entered his kennel and came too close to him or stuck out a hand with a treat he would scream. Literally scream 💔😔 - what happened in his life to make him act like this? 😭
🐾🙏 Challenge accepted! Daily visits, sitting outside the kennel with the door open, trying to get him to come out. After 6 weeks he took a snack from my hand. After 7 weeks he would come out of the kennel, very alert, very skittish. After 8 weeks he allowed me to touch him, briefly! At 9 weeks he trusted me enough to sit with him in the kennel (with snacks of course!). At 10 weeks he was moved over to the main kennels, yes, picked up and moved. At 11 weeks we went to the playpen together and he chose to stay and explore.
Since then, Chester has officially become a dog 😁 He went for his first walk on a harness and leash 🦮 (took a bit of time to get that on!). Today we had a PICNIC 🧺 and he had free range of the premises and loved every second of it!
💛🙏 Although still skittish of other people, Chester's really grown and his personality is shining through. He is energetic and curious, playful and attentive!
