Thanks to all the wonderful people and horses we got to meet and help around Cape Town...
There was a lot of #horsemanship training and some problem solving. Being able to clarify what we expect of our horses is a crucial point that determines how they respond to our everyday questions.
Educating our horses to understand our communication with them and conditioning them to flourish in the environments we put them in is of critical importance! Doing so leads to successfully achieving your goals with your horse if it is within their psychological and physical ability...

Backing a horse for the first time is always a fragile process... Most of the success lies in the preparation and the horseman or woman behind the process, through the understanding of pressure, well enough, and the psychological threshold of the horse...
Having temperance and patients are 2 critical qualities of a capable horseman.
If you have any questions, you are welcome, dm to get your questions answered.

Not your ordinary pressure... 🐘 🐎
There is no easy way to train a horse to remain responsive under all conditions, especially conditions where their instincts tell them to run!
The process is simple though, it's called Operant Conditioning(pressure and the release of pressure).
The way it is applied is the tricky part...
When training a horse to this extent, certain methods are not adequate nor sufficient any further. Methods such as desensitization (flooding) and positive reinforcement do have their place and are more efficient than negative reinforcement.
At Horse Flow Academy we prefer to focus on the process of Operant Conditioning, follow along and see how this method is applied under all different circumstances. You will quickly notice that most of you are already using it! It's just a refinement of the technique which is required...

What a great demonstration in Ghanzi, Botswana, at the Horse of the Year Show. A foreign horse and a foreign box/trailer... but when applying the core principles, you can get your horse in the box/trailer in a calm fashion.🐎
This approach allows for long-term success and ease of laoding in all circumstances.
DM us for any questions or if you're struggling to get your horse loaded.
