Hoedspruit, South Africa’s wildlife haven, is surrounded by impoverished, rural communities, that have no access to government veterinary facilities for domestic animals. Since 2016, HALO (Hoedspruit AnimaL Outreach) has worked together with the local community leaders to improve the mental and physical health of domestic animals. Seven communities, The Willows, LeBoeng, Moraba, The Oaks, Tswenyan

One small pup, one big impact. 🐶💉
Today we vaccinated this little one in a rural community — and with just a single rabies vaccination, an entire family is now protected. That’s the power of proactive care.

At HALO, we work every day to reach dogs who would otherwise have no access to life-saving vaccines. Every pup vaccinated is a step closer to a safer community, and a world free from rabies.

😔 Reservation cancelled - Rayban is still looking for her forever home😞

This adorable little girl is about 8 weeks old and in need of a loving home. Surrendered for being unwanted, she has blossomed into a playful, sweet girl, socialised with other dogs and children and learning to potty train. She is a stunning little girl that will likely grow to become a small to medium size dog. Rayban had her second round of shots and is perfectly healthy.

We can’t get over how strong these community dogs are. The one moment they are about to die and a week and a bit of medication and TLC later and they flourish again.

Molly is taking it slow in her private kennel and getting ready for her sterilisation this week.

With deep sadness, we share that Max has passed away. Despite our best efforts and the care provided, Max was too weak to recover. It’s heartbreaking that we couldn’t save him.

🐶Sadie is still looking for her forever home🐶

Little Sadie is just the gentlest, sweetest and most adorable little girl, but somehow there has not been one application for her 🤷🏼‍♀️

⭐️She is now 7 weeks old and has the best personality, she loves people and children, easy going, house trained and very soft hearted. She just wants to cuddle all day!

🐶Sadie is one of the three pups that was dumped in the river and magically survived; her two sisters have found a home, now it’s just her. She is the littlest of them all and we don’t expect her to become very big.

The last Mulalani 1 outreach of 2025! With 86 dogs seen who received much needed 5-1 and rabies vaccinations and parasite treatment thanks to Humane World for Animals South Africa. Two dogs were diagnosed with TVT who will be receiving urgent treatment, including sterilisation. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers of EcoLife Expeditions for joining today and making this another successful outreach uplifting the lives of dogs in this community

Max was in such a poor state that he was not able to even lift his head or stand for almost two days. Tonight he was able to stand on his own, though very wobbly, and even had his first bites after having been fed through a tube for the last days. He is definitely not out of the woods yet but it’s definite progress. Let’s hope Max will keep fighting.
