WERC WE Riding Centre

WERC WE Riding Centre WERC is a "Virtual" and "Online" Horse Riding and Training Centre, specifically for the Equestrian D

WERC is the acronym for the WORKING EQUITATION RIDING CENTRE, which is a PRIVATE, AUTONOMOUS Non-Profit Organisation, not a part of ANY National Equestrian Federation in any Equestrian Discipline. WERC is registered with the SOUTH AFRICAN EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION (SAEF) in the Equestrian Discipline of WORKING EQUITATION in South Africa, and is entitled to be a Show/Event Holding Body and Organiser of

WORKING EQUITATION and other Equestrian Events. Although WERC is registered to act as a "Club" in South Africa, its functions and services go way beyond normal "Club" activities. The mission of WERC is to develop and promote the Equestrian Discipline of WORKING EQUITATION throughout South Africa, Southern Africa, Africa, and the World, by maintaining the ethics and values of classical working dressage and traditional equitation whilst providing an encouraging and considerate setting for riders, regardless of their choice of breed of horse, tack, or clothing. There are various categories of Membership of WERC, accessed through the Website (https://ingwenet.wixsite.com/werc) - Individual Membership (which is FREE) ranges from SOCIAL Members and Officials, to Riders (Competitors, Recreational Riders/Handlers, and Non-Competitor Riders/Handlers); Special Interest Group Members; and Associate Members. If you are already a member of a Club, that does not stop you from becoming an Individual Member of any category with WERC - our Individual Membership is based on being a Website Member, where you gain access to detailed information about Working Equitation, its Training, Online Events, and Live Online Coaching. WERC shall always prioritise the development of the harmony between rider and horse, as well as providing an environment to enhance the levels of training and riding, aiming to work towards Classical Horsemastership, within the Equestrian Discipline of WORKING EQUITATION anywhere in the world that they have a presence. As a part of the development of horse and rider in a partnership, the principles of kind and horse-orientated preparation of both horse and rider to achieve emotional, psychological, and physical security, roundedness, and balance will always be applied progressively. The unquestioned principal, as a foundation policy of WERC, is that the WELLBEING of the HORSE is paramount.

To this end, the phrase “Horsemanship Welfare” encapsulates the physical, psychological, and emotional welfare and state of happiness of, in the first instance, the horse himself/herself, as well as stock animals that form a part of the WE Trials, and shall further include the physical, psychological, and emotional welfare and state of happiness of the Athletes/Riders, Participants, Organisers, Guests, Officials, Marshals, Parents/Guardians, Grooms, spectators, and visitors - in fact, anybody or any animal present at any WE gathering or Event of any kind.

Provision has been made in the WERC Constitution to empower Officials to address any incidents of abuse of a horse or a human at ANY WERC-sanctioned events with a diplomatic, but firm approach. This eventuality is also covered in the comprehensive WERC Code of Conduct, that also addresses the common occurence of bullying on social media, and such activity (amongst others), when exposed, can be curtailed by a comprehensive "Safeguarding Policy Against Harassment and Abuse".

More sound support for Charlotte Dujardin, with VERY applicable comments!!!

Ethan Romas-Hill
As many of you may have heard, Charlotte Dujardin has a suspension from FEI competition and has had to pull out of the Paris Olympics. This news is deeply unsettling, and as a Vet with a commitment to animal welfare, and also dressage trainer who wants dressage to actually have a future, I feel compelled to speak up.

In the horse world, we witness numerous practices that often go unchallenged. From overfeeding horses into metabolic disease and induced laminitis, to lunging them for hours before a competition, secret water fasting, and even Botox injections into tails to stop them from swinging. Insulin and steroid hormones are administered frequently, and the use of Acepromazine at smaller competitions is widespread and almost a cultural norm in some disciplines. These are not secrets; they happen right before our eyes, yet no one speaks up until it is the flavour of the month to hate people we don’t even know.

Now, a video from four years ago resurfaces, and suddenly, we're targeting one of the most accomplished and respected riders in our sport. Everyone’s memory is so short… I understand I might be putting my head on the chopping block here, and as a veterinarian, I expect some backlash. But I can't sit back and watch this kind of bullying unfold. I’m not really going to comment too much on what happens in the video, because that’s not what this is about. This is about the human component here. The double standards, the self righteousness, and the aggressive cancel culture.

Is what Charlotte is seen doing in the video right? Probably not. But context matters, and we lack it here. It feels suspiciously timed, just enough to push her out of the way for the upcoming Olympics.

I see more damage done to horses daily by riders using ill-fitting saddles or feeding poor diets out of frugality. I am not condoning the actions in the video, but let's be real: Charlotte Dujardin has done more for the appreciation of harmony in modern dressage than any other rider. She made wearing a helmet "cool," leading to the banning of the top hat and improving the safety of our sport.

This is a video from 2.5 or 4 years ago. Reflect on who you were 4 years ago; chances are, you've grown and changed. The most crucial aspect of training horses is acknowledging our humanity, learning from our mistakes, and committing to not repeating them. We can't change the past, but we can forgive ourselves and strive for better.

I take mental health seriously. Before you type or speak, remember that relentless online trolling can have devastating effects. Charlotte Dujardin has improved the lives of countless riders and horses through her teachings. Let’s show some human decency and focus on constructive actions, rather than relentlessly attack, until it’s no longer on trend, and everyone forgets about this. This is literally what happened every time something like this comes up. Time to break the cycle of extreme criticism and cancel culture of people we don’t even know.

It’s also worth noting that Charlotte has lost her sponsorship from Charles Owen helmets, a brand she popularised in my opinion. She is the reason Charles Owen remains a top choice for riders across generations and disciplines. Very disappointing to see how easily discarded she was and I’ll always keep this in mind when purchasing a helmet.

Let’s put down the pitchforks and torches. Remember, there is a real human behind this. Let’s commit to kindness, and basic human decency.

Anyone who misses the point, and wants to try to justify bullying in the comment section here, please take a walk. This post is not for you. Your time will be wasted because your comment will be deleted.

Copied from Monica Hope-Brown......

Someone of the calibre of Jorge Pereira Morango commenting on the Charlotte Dujardin controversy gets my wholehearted support.....
In law, there is such a thing as a "Statute of Limitations", that absolves a supposed offender after a period of time..... if there have been no other evidences of a similar offense since the videoed incident, then surely the person who revealed this offense should be the real offender, and suitable action MUST be taken against them. As Senor Morango comments, this is evidently an attempt to discredit Ms Dujardin from being a competitive threat.

Most of you will say that what I am doing here is not intelligent but it’s what I feel like doing I have seen the video that was posted in a coward way about a rider that was a star one day and a monster the day after. I need to tell all my clients, colleagues and everyone that I have done similar things with the wipe , I have shouted at my horses and been strict to them YES I have done it Unfortunately none of this that has happened is about horse welfare It’s all politics Low level politics, if there’s any other level. If you want to be like the animal welfare fanatics that are after us, you can look at this picture and say that the horse ears are showing contraction and he seems upset Was it a right thing to do NO !! Do we like to make a horse respect us when he bites or kicks??? I don’t think so
I have done many things to educate my kids that broke my heart but had to be done so that they didn’t become monsters The way this failed society is nowadays with all these welfare people, before looking at animals, look how we are raising them ,the way they treat teachers, parents and older people One thing I hate the most in life is cowards So to the team that will benefit from making UK team weaker in such a coward way last minute hope you feel proud.

A copy of my latest BLOG on the IngweNet NPC website - "RE-LAUNCH OF THE INGWENET NPC ACADEMY FOR SUSTAINABLE HOLISTIC AGRICULTURE AND SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY"

Well, after a number of backward steps (including a double bank card fraud, robbed of the IngweNet NPC mobile phone at knifepoint, & 3 contracts that should have brought in around R100,000.00 and all I received was R700.00 over a period of 3 months), I took on a development contract in the Midlands, on the edge of the Battlefields Tourism Route.

Bearing in mind that the projects I have been taking on in my personal capacity have been funding IngweNet NPC for the past 4 years, whilst I have been developing the international investment pathways (because local South African investors are very slow in supporting local initiatives, despite the potential of way-above-average returns)........

The development contract has placed me in the right place, hopefully at the right time, to be presented with an opportunity to form a Joint Venture or Strategic Partnership with a local farmer who has a vacant, unused farm that is suitable to re-launch the IngweNet NPC Academy for Sustainable Holistic Agriculture and Sustainable Community Living on a TEMPORARY basis whilst we are raising the local funds in order to release the international inbound investments, the first amount being 5 million Euros. The international investments will secure a permanent home for IngweNet NPC in about 3 to 6 months from now.

Negotiations for the formation of the JV or Strategic Partnership are well underway, and the chances of success are very high.

The re-launch of the Academy will concentrate on the foundation course - the Sustainable EcoGrowing Systems course, aimed at potential Community Trainers / Mentors. This course (along with 2 others) has been presented and improved on over the past 20 years, and the Sustainable EcoGrowing System itself is extremely flexible, able to be set up anywhere in the world, with modifications for available area, climate, ecosystem needs etc.

The Sustainable EcoGrowing System is based on established Permaculture principles, promoting Organic Growing of vegetables, fruit, nuts, and animal products. Future courses include Regenerative Farming methods - essentially commercial Organic Farming in nature.

The Community Trainers / Mentors will be supported as Community Entrepreneurs, with the chance to grow their monthly income from a minimum of R10,000.00 to R30,000.00 over a period of 15 months. Additional benefits will also be possible - above average vehicle loans, medical benefits, retirement investments, and others normally only available to the "fat cats" of society, at the expense of many community members.

IngweNet NPC's Community Entrepreneur initiative also addresses the need for Food Security at the family level, and further provides for the development of those families as another type of Community Entrepreneur, with the opportunity to market their surplus produce, products, and services through IngweNet NPC's network for a sustainable monthly income.

IngweNet NPC is registered in the category of Sustainable Community Economic Development with the South African Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission (CIPC) as a Non Profit COMPANY - with the mandate that it can raise investments and loans, not like an NPO that can only rely on grants and donations, most of which have now dried up.

I'd like to request that subscribers to this Blog invite all their social media friends interested in their own sustainability in these difficult times, to subscribe as well. Blog posts are infrequent at present, so we won't be spamming anyone with countless posts......

Also, because the Academy re-launch is likely to take place at the beginning of July, the inaugural re-launch course is open for a limited number of participants. Please tell everyone of this opportunity to become a part of this landmark initiative to positively change the lives of thousands of people (themselves included), not only in South and Southern Africa, but world-wide.

Yours in Sustainability,

Wayne.

Your positive thoughts and prayers have produced results temporarily, thank you.....

I have some earning opportunities to take me a few steps forward towards my goals for the Non Profit Company, however, I still need a place to stay where I can charge my phones and get onto my computer to progress forward.

Please turn your thoughts and prayers in this direction for me?

Ideally, any place in the KZN Midlands on a farm or smallholding, so that I can take my horse back under my more experienced care.

I have been offered place on a farm in the Free State, and all that's stopping me from accepting that place is the cost of relocation - about R20,000.00 (equivalent to approx. US$1,250.00, Euro1,150.00, or GBP1,000.00). The conversions are for reference, but if there's anybody looking for a donation opportunity against taxable earnings before the financial year end, please consider this worthwhile cause?

Thank you, and PLEASE SHARE?

HELP PLEASE!!!
My contract in Richmond has ended, it seems I won't be paid, and I need to move by lunchtime.
I have a bakkie load of tools and personal items, and I need storage for them.
Without the payment from this contract, I can't pay upfront, but I'm still negotiating investors and financial partners to move my business interests ahead, and can pay when I receive those funds.
PLEASE SHARE, and please let me know asap???
Thanks, if you read this far......

Well, there's been no response to my two posts this week, so now I'm looking for someone in the KZN Midlands who will store my belongings in a secure place for a while, and I'll make my own arrangements to live off-grid until I can secure the investments through the channels that are taking time.

I WILL pay for the storage, but in arrears, when the investments are secured and transferred....... and there will be additional benefits down the line also, because I always remember those who have helped me, and even if it takes time, they will be repaid with a lot more than they helped with.

Please let me know if you,, or someone you know, can assist for the next few weeks / month - phone / WhatsApp +27 66 099 2048 or email [email protected].

Thanks......

Hi friends…….
I have another request (sorry) for my South African network……
I’m just finishing a contract sooner than expected, and urgently need a place to stay for a few weeks, while I negotiate the local interim investments for my Non Profit Company.
The area where I am is in the KZN Midlands….. I’m trying to get my needs met in the Richmond – Boston area (close to where I’m negotiating my “forever” home, after spending too many years on other people’s projects).
However, I’m open to other areas in the KZN Midlands or Upper Highway also.
Ideally, I’d need a place to stay with enough room to store my equipment (tools, basic furniture etc), amounting to about 1/3rd of single garage space. If its on a Smallholding or farm that can temporarily also accommodate my horse, I can take him back under my care from where he’s staying at present – but that’s not a deal-breaker, just my desire, as he’s my last “child” still dependant on me.
Please contact me on mobile phone or WhatsApp (+27 66 099 2048) or by email ([email protected]).

Hi FB friends and followers…….
PLEASE read to the end….
It seems as though I’m always asking for some help, when it’s my hearts desire to be able to help others…..
PLEASE do something for me this weekend?
Whether in South Africa or anywhere else in the world, PLEASE post on all social media platforms, or speak personally to people about my request below. The reason behind my request is important to thousands of struggling people world-wide, and something needs to be started NOW in order to make the difference to a few of those people at a time.
I’m negotiating INTERIM INVESTMENT into my South African Company in order to process international investments already negotiated. I have some interested funders (investors and financial partners) already in negotiations, however, their funds are not yet available.
All I need is ONE supportive investor / financial partner who has a sum of R300,000.00 (approximately US$20,000.00, Euro17,500.00, or GBP15,000.00) available at short notice. I am willing to give a return on their investment way above the best available (for small investments), plus other benefits.
The international investments are substantial, and are destined to re-establish my Company’s Academy for Sustainable Agriculture and Sustainable Living, along with it’s peripheral Community Economic Development initiatives, on our own property (leased or donated properties have, for the past 20 years, had issues when it came to bringing learners to stay for the 2 to 3 weeks per course).
The business plan is established and tested, and the courses and trainers are ready to re-start as soon as the venue is secured.
An ideal property on which the program can start immediately is available, and on offer to my Company as soon as the international investments arrive to secure the purchase.
More details can be requested from me on mobile phone or WhatsApp (+27 66 099 2048) or by email ([email protected]).
THIS IS NO SCAM, as an ex-Facebook “friend” claimed recently….. I have personally invested a huge sum into the development of the courses and the training of our future trainers, many times more than the amount I’m asking as an interim investment. The person involved has NOT read any of my documentation regarding the Business Plan, Financial Projections, or other supporting media. The Company’s Executive Summary is open to public view, along with Codes of Ethics and Conduct, on the Company website – https://ingwenet21.wixsite.com/ingwenet .

Balance and body position of the rider is critical for the well-being of the horse.
Don't just work on the horse's balance (best with groundwork of different types), but ALSO develop your own balance by exercising your own body, all through the day, doing routine things.
