Inspection Update💙🐔
During the week uMngeni SPCAs team, led by Inspector Luyanda Renge conducted an inspection on Mr Maharaj's chicken hawking site in Howick West. Luyanda was pleased to report, “The 90-odd chickens were in good condition apart from one which was deformed and couldn't walk. It was humanely euthanized to prevent further suffering. The chicken’s enclosure was kept warm with a fire in a drum during the day and heat lamps at night. Fresh air was circulating to get rid of any smoke. Water and food were well provided.”

It is extremely important that uMngeni SPCA’s team conduct routine inspections to prevent animal cruelty and educate owners and animal handlers. We are ever appreciative of our kind community who makes it possible for us to continue to help them. Thank you 💙🐾

During the course of term 2, each registration class was challenged to fill an SPCA collection tin with any spare change that they had.
We are delighted to share that together, Howick High School was able to raise R5462.40 to donate to the uMngeni SPCA.
The class who raised the most was 10CS with a total of R1651.70 and they were delighted to received cake as their reward.

Owners going away on vacation can be tough on pets. Did you know that uMngeni SPCA can help? Book your pets in well ahead of time so they can stay in the boarding kennels at uMngeni SPCA where they will be warm, dry and secure. 🐾

Rates for cats are R50 per day 🐈
Rates for dogs per day are; Small R70, Medium R90, Large R100 & Extra Large R110 🐕

Kennels Roof Raising Fund Update 💙🐾
Thank you to each and every single donor who has contributed towards the Kennels Roof Raising Fund so far. According to our Tuesday tally we have raised R91,738.20.

We are getting there... If you cannot help directly, please help by telling all of your animal loving friends that we really, really need help to mend our roof at the kennels 🐱🐶💙

ℹ️WHY? After inspecting the premises at 15 Campbell Road, several local professionals in the construction industry concur: The wooden roof truss structure is rotten and the corrugated iron cladding severely rusted. It is beyond repair.
Replacement is the only option. uMngeni SPCA is faces a significant once-off financial challenge.
Funds must be raised for a completely new roof and necessary internal upgrades and finishes for the extended clinic facilities - Total Cost R265,000.
