We Wopped the Wabbits at the Royal Agricultural Exhibition!

We are still up in Pietermaritzburg at the most amazing Royal Agricultural Exhibition (situated at the Royal Show Grounds) , and let me tell you, our rabbits did us PROUD!

We entered a whole fluffball delegation of 9 rabbits, and guess what? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM hopped home with a prize!

Here's the buck-tacular (and doe-lightful ) breakdown of our wins:

Micro Rex:
Our Adult Buck hopped to victory, taking 1st place and the coveted Best of Breed title! Our Adult Doe wasn't far behind, snagging a well-deserved 2nd place.

Polish under 6 Buck:
This little champ brought home 2nd place, proving that even the young bucks can hold their own!

Netherland Dwarf:
We doubled down on dwarf domination! Our Adult Buck aced the competition, winning 1st place and Best of Breed, while our Adult Doe took an impressive 2nd place.

Flemish Giant:
Our Intermediate Bucks were giants amongst bunnies, taking 1st place and Best of Breed! We even snagged a 3rd place for good measure.

German Lop: This lop-eared wonder hopped straight to the top, winning 1st place and Best of Breed! Please note that this is still a breed in development and there aren't any available for rehoming.

Belgian Hare: Last but definitely not least, our Belgian Hare took 1st place and reserve Best of Breed, proving that sometimes reserve is just as good as gold!

We are absolutely thrilled with our results, and so incredibly proud of our amazing rabbits. They showed true star quality, and we can't wait to see what they achieve next!

A huge shoutout to the organizers for putting on such a fantastic event, and congratulations to all the other winners! Here's to many more successful rabbit adventures in the future!

Due to the outbreak of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 (RVHD2), That Bunny Farm can no longer accept surrendered rabbits until further notice. This difficult decision prioritizes the health and safety of our resident rabbits and the wider community.

Biosecurity is paramount: RVHD2 is highly contagious and can be fatal to rabbits. Accepting surrenders during this outbreak poses a significant risk of introducing the virus to our farm, potentially devastating our rabbit population and jeopardizing the welfare of animals in our care.

Why we can't make exceptions: While we understand the challenges of surrendering a rabbit, making exceptions could have disastrous consequences. Even seemingly healthy rabbits might carry the virus without showing symptoms, putting our entire rabbit family at risk.

What you can do:

Postpone surrender: If possible, delay surrendering your rabbit until the RVHD2 outbreak is under control. We understand this may be difficult, but it's crucial to protect the rabbit community.

Seek alternative care: Explore alternative options for rehoming your rabbit.

For those of you who are crafty.....This is done with bleach on a t shirt.
1. Make a plastic template. Old x-rays work well. Or a laminated paper.
2. Wet black tshirt
3. Put template on t-shirt
4. Spray with a bleach and water solution. The back behind template will stay black. The rest changes colour.
5.Watch shirt change colour to desired colour. 6.Rinse and you done.
Works well on black or dark shirts. Needs to be cotton. Or cotton rich.

Our Story

Our love for rabbits started way back in 1994 and has been a passion ever since.

We are very active and vocal about rabbit care and although we are breeders, we are exceptionally particular about who we home our rabbits to. All new bunny owners are welcomed into our extended bunny family and we love to stay in contact.

Our little business has grown from strength to strength, with this year (2018) seeing the launch of our online shop. We realised that there was very little in the way of bunny toys and accessories here in South Africa, the vast majority being imported. Majority of our products are made by ourselves in our little workshop and all products go through stringent quality control with our own buns prior to being released to the public. Trade enquiries are welcome for all of our products.

We attend rabbit shows both in KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng, being members of both clubs. Our rabbits always do exceptionally well, which is a huge driving force for us as we continually strive to improve our breeds and to work on breeds that are in decline.
