A little behind the scenes about this special boy:
Lans legit notices EVERYTHING around him! He’s the most sensitive horse I’ve ever met! So some days he’s super calm and easy to work with but other days…oh boy can he be tricky!😂 He can get super anxious, tense and spooky and sometimes no matter how calm I remain, he doesn’t get any better! So I’ve had to learn to just laugh it off and think “ok I guess we’ll try again tomorrow😂”. And a weird fact: he’s super scared of birds! Imagine that! A 500kg horse scared of a flipping bird😳🤣 And don’t even get me started on the thatch jump shed…I’ve had Lans for more than 2 years now and he’s been to my arena probably over a 100 times and past the thatch jump shed probably over 100 times so you’d think that he’d stop spooking at it by now right?! Nope. He STILL THINKS it’s the most TERRIFYING thing he’s ever seen!🤣
Anyways, I think it’s because of his quirks that he actually trains me more than I train him! He’s taught me an incredible amount especially just small life lessons like having patience, opening my mind to different ways of doing things and being willing to let things that are out of my control go and try again tomorrow. I used to get super frustrated when he had days of being super tense and spooky and now I know how to control my emotions so much better. So yeah, thanks Lans for giving me those difficult days of intense frustration because it’s taught me to be a much better horsewoman❤️ And we’re now the team we are because of it. Grateful for this special boy each and every day 🙂
Tack 'n Togs

It’s not pleasant walking out of the ring after messing up. BUT I expect to fail! I expect to mess up again and again and again! But then after that…I expect to be proud of myself for carrying on despite every wrong stride I took. I expect to smile and give myself and my horse a pat for the things we did well. And finally, I expect to show up the next day ready to give my all again. I’m proud to say that I did exactly that at Presidents Cup with Lans. For the full story and more go check out my new YouTube video coming out at 7 tonight! https://www.youtube.com/.themotivationalhorseygirl
Bold’s epic 🥉 place round in the 1.30m accumulator on Sunday with the joker sitting at 1.45m😱🤩
Lans jumping like a little legend in his prep for Presidents Cup coming up this weekend😍
Bold training in his lesson for the Stokkies Trident Cup next week🤩
Equiprovet SA Equaan 1000 improves his joint fluid quality and viscosity which helps him jump as well as this 👇
One of Warwick Schiller’s Principles of Training that I applied to my own horses😆 The results were amazing!
Thanks Equiprovet SA for supporting the horsemanship work that I do with my boys🥰
Huge pats and smiles as D and I went clear on the last day of the FEI World Jumping Challenge Final🥰 I miss him already😩 I wanted to bring him home😂…I think Bold and Lans would’ve loved having a sassy pony following them around, what do you think?🤣 Although, i don’t know if being around Bold would’ve been the safest…
But i have a lot of thank yous to say because so many people were involved in my journey to the finals. So thank you to Jenna Barrow for all your help over there! Thank you to Rainer Korber and Dani Machiné for helping me even though you were in South Africa. Thank you to my mom Sue Alcock who helped with everything while we were there and to my dad GG Alcock who backed me and supported me from SA! Thank you to my sponsors who’ve been such a big part of my journey Tack 'n Togs , Equiprovet SA, Calico Socks, Equisense! Thank you to FEI Jumping and the Bulgarian Equestrian Federation for organising and running such an amazing show! Thank you to SA Showjumping and SAEF for everything you did to help me get there! Thanks to Kyalami Park Equestrian and to everyone back home for all the support while we were there!
I just love this pic of Lans and I 😱
The boys have had a bit of a break while I’ve been away which I think was so good for them! They’re certainly feeling happy to be back in work 🤣 I thought I was going to need super glue for my jods and a parachute to attach to my back when I got back on Bold but he was surprisingly calm😳😂 Happy to be back with my boys🥰
Lans’s joints being kept in the best condition (as you can see from the picture👀) with Equiprovet SA Equaan 1000! Be sure to get yours!
I don’t even know where to begin to describe the FEI World Jumping Challenge Final in Bulgaria. Just before I left, I was awarded my Protea Colours - which was one of my biggest goals so far! So I was on a high before we even landed in Bulgaria!
All the athletes had to randomly draw a horse and this would be the horse we’d be competing. I drew this small horse called Nostradamus aka D (who I’d soon find out was small in size but big in heart🙃). We all had one ride to get used to our horses then a warmup competition, 1st qualifier, 2nd qualifier and fairwell/final competition.
After D and I went over our first jump, he porpoised and played around…which definitely reminded me of Bold so I instantly knew I liked him! The only thing was that he was pretty small so had quite a small stride which I wasn’t really used to. But otherwise I was happy I got such a willing little guy 🙂
The warm up competition I went clear and won some beer (which my dad greatly appreciated🤣). The first qualifier I had one pole but finished 7th. The second qualifier things didn’t really go to plan…there were two jumps which were 6 strides apart and I really tried to get there in the 6 but D’s little legs didn’t quite make it😂 So we almost crashed through the jump! Luckily we made it over (but had the pole down) so I quickly regathered and jumped the rest of the round so well! I had the last jump down too though but that was just bad luck.
After all that, I went into the Farewell Competition and had an awesome clear!! In the jump off I had one down which meant I finished 3rd overall!🥳 I was so over the moon with that result😱 In the prize giving, they raised the top 3 riders flags and I can’t tell you how emotional I got watching the South African flag being raised up. I felt so incredibly proud and I just can’t explain how great that feeling was!
I loved every second of this epic experience! The people and riders were so awesome and I made some very special memories! A thank you post will be coming soon because there were so many people who were apart of my journey to Bulgaria! But I’d say it was a pretty successful first international competition which I’ll never forget.🥰
So incredibly proud to have gotten my Protea Colours!!🥳 Tomorrow I leave for Bulgaria to represent South Africa at the FEI World Jumping Challenge Final (an event that only 20 athletes in the world have qualified for!) and I couldn’t be more excited! This has been such a big goal of mine and I’m so grateful to everyone whose helped me achieve this because I certainly haven’t done it on my own!
Thank you to my parents Sue Alcock and GG Alcock who’ve played such a big role in supporting my riding! Thank you to my jumping coach Rainer Korber for putting so much into me and my horses! Thank you to my flat work coach Daniella Machiné for all the strength training you put into me and my horses so that we can jump as well as we do! Thank you to my sponsors Tack 'n Togs and Calico Socks for supplying me with the best kit!
And Equiprovet SA for veterinary products that maintain my horses at such a high level🥰
Thank you SA Showjumping and South African Equestrian Federation for all your help for the trip!
Make that two crushes🤪😂 Bold and Lans are just my main men what can I say💁♀️😂 My boyfriend has just had to accept that he comes 10th (there’s my two horses who occupy first and then all my celebrity crushes who occupy the next 9 places🤷🏼♀️🤪)
Not me on my way to change my profile picture, Lock Screen and Home Screen wallpaper after seeing this picture👀😂 And at least this one also illustrates the height of the jump! Because when I walked the course I was like “holy guacamole, Lans better whip out some wings!”. But hey, I also thought the same when I first moved up to 1m…back then those jumps were massive! So maybe the 1.40m will start to look small after awhile…I hope😳🤣
Tack 'n Togs
My first clear in the 1.40m happened today!!🥳🥳🥳 Lans and I jumped in the 1.40m SA Championships this morning and went clear in the first round and then took 2 poles in the jump off placing us 10th overall in a class of 62 riders 😆 Each round I that jump in the 1.40m just gets better and better and I know the jump offs will come as I get more comfortable in this height😌But I was so excited when I went clear in the first round that I dropped my rein🤣 Watch till the end to see my ecstatic reaction!
Thank you so much Rainer Korber for all your help at the show and for all the work you’ve put into Lans and I! Thank you to my sponsors, Equiprovet SA for Equaan that keeps Lans jumping his best throughout the show! Tack 'n Togs for the best kit! Calico Socks for my funky socks🤪 and Equisense for my amazing device that tracks my rides!
Thank you to my parents for supporting me each and every day❤️ Sue Alcock and GG Alcock

Bold and I had a super round in the adult 1.30m at KEP today🥰 He was so calm in the warm up which I was really impressed with! But maybe a bit too calm…because when I started my round, I came into the first jump and I don’t think he saw the jump until like two strides out (I think both of us were maybe a bit too relaxed 😂), so we had a run out. But compared to everything that went well, that was just a small thing 🙂 I mean for one, Bold being calm in the warm up is AMAZING😱 So now I just need to find a balance between completely calm and completely crazy😂 And for another, he jumped clear after that slight mishap at number one😂 So, much to be happy about at our warm up for SA Champs🤪 And I can’t wait for SA Champs next week with my boy😆 Lans will be jumping tomorrow in the U25 series but I will post an update on how that goes tomorrow👀
Thank you to Ray for your help! And thank you to my sponsors for all your support❤️ Equiprovet SA

Bold jumped SO well in our lesson on Tuesday😱 But in other news: I’ve been putting a lot of time into Bold and I’s partnership lately. Just small things like taking him for walks and letting him eat grass after I’ve ridden him, going and sitting with him in his stable before school in the mornings, doing carrot stretches (but I do this with both my horses so it doesn’t really count😂) and just taking some extra time to groom him before I ride him. And I think these small things are important because they build our relationship which in the end, counts for a lot when you’re in the ring at a competition. I know it’s tough to find time to do small things like this with your horse, but if you can find an extra 10 min to spend with him out of the saddle each day, I promise you it’ll make so much of a difference 🙂 Try it and let me know 🙃 Equiprovet SA
Lans’s clear round in the United League of Champions night time team event at Shongweni🤩 So proud of him for being so good in our first night time competition🥳 Thanks Equiprovet SA for Equaan 1000 which suppresses the inflammatory response in joints making Lans’s joints feel amazing!✨ Thanks United League of Champions and United Aviation Group for such an amazing event🥰
