Dorsal fins are used for stabilisation and keep the fish from rolling to the side π It also helps them swim in a straight line.
These hunky HiFin Platys with their huge dorsal fin have enhanced stability in the water! They can reach greater swimming speeds but their ability to make sharp turns is a little limited.
Their other Platy friends might tease them a little but I know there's also some jealousy π hehe
Woohooo πππ We've decided to extend our fab GMO Widow Special until 31 March ! Cya soon
The Ranchu is one of the oldest fancy Goldfish created in Japan. They are nicknamed The King of Goldfish ! They are a hooded variety and lack any dorsal fin π These beautiful black ones are particularly stunning but we also have Calico and Sakura Ranchu for you to meet

And they do love their own company so a lovely big school is a MUST ! Fully grown they are 3-4cm big and a dark background will make their colour pop π They are fast and busy little fellas and can be a bit fin-nippy but only when the group isn't big enough
We can't all have a KΕhaku Koi but one of these knock-out KΕhaku Swordtails will make an excellent addition to a 3ft+ aquarium. The males with their extended lower caudal-fin lobe can grow up to 14cm and the female as big as 16cm π
Now there's a cutey for sure π The Motoro Stingray could get as big as 60cm so need a big aquarium footprint, height is irrelevant as they hang out on the floor. A finer gravel is recommended as they bury themselves when stressed. Pristine water with lotsa oxygenation is needed to keep them healthyπ§
They are a peaceful species but among the top predators in their natural ecosystem so tankmates must be carefully considered!
Their sting/barb is made from the same stuff as a human tooth (dentin) and is shed periodically. They can't move it independently but rather use their tail in a flailing motion when trying to sting. It is venomous but you gotta seriously harass them for them consider using the sting as it's only used for defenseβ
Desktop Aquarium with live plants πͺ΄ Plug and Play βΆοΈ Perfect for your office with a footprint of only 30x22.5cm but 20l of water !
Loadshedding proof and Tropical set-ups avaliable on request
Our head turning Hellboy finally in his new home, happy as a clam with his White Wizard Snail tankmate π In the perfect spot to kiss mom and dad goodnight every night
The Silver Dollar is a fab mid- to upper-level addition to the 250l plus aquarium π This peaceful schooling species grows to +-15cm and is an avid plant-eater πͺ΄ Plastic plants are a must as they are nervous pets ... hiding spots and dim lighting will boost their confidence !
βΌοΈ Add one to your current school for R310.00, a pair for R520.00 or a trio for R730.00 π«

Meet Avo our new Puffer π‘ like all puffers, the Auriglobus modestus is a rather aggressive dude and is best kept in a species only tank that is well decorated as they are very intelligent and need things to engage their curiosity π€
Good tankmates (in a nice big home) include bigger, faster fish like Danios but avoid any slow swimmers and long finned friends.
They are a freshwater species and grow to around 10-12cm big. They have no scales and gill covers and are very sensitive to water quality. They need snails and other shelled foods daily in their diet and may require their teeth trimmed 3-4 times per year if they get too long. They inflate when frightened or cornered but if they take on air when puffing it can be fatal !
Regular water changes and quality food results in gorgeous Clown Loaches π These 2 are looking for their new FINever monster home
I've heard so much about the Geophagus Tapajo but had yet to meet them ... now I have I can understand why π Absolute Stunners !
We currently also have Geophagus Surinamensis and Geophagus Sveni for you to meet
Red Devil π π It's all in the name with these little devils π hehe
Now there's a face we don't often see ! Lake Kurumoi Rainbowfish currently avaliable as well as Banded Rainbowfish and Blue Rainbowfish π
The Clown Loach is defo one of my absolute favourites π We currently have 8 in our aquarium at home and they have never been more fun !
Ideally they need at least a 1.8m home to maintain a group of 5 or 6, 10 would be better, as they have a complex social hierarchy. Keeping only 1 can result in withdrawn or aggressive behaviour and if keeping 2 or 3 the dominant individual may bully the others so remember to keep an eye on everyone and make sure they are eating.
We currently have 6-7cm and 4-5cm available to add to your community π€‘
