On Friday, Inspector Gavin Ntsoane received an urgent call about a large dog trapped in a stormwater drain. A keen-eyed passerby had spotted the distressed animal and reported it to our team. Upon arriving, Inspector Ntsoane assessed that the situation required two people for a successful rescue. With all other inspectors unavailable, Khutso, our dedicated driver, stepped up to assist. We are thrilled to report that the rescue was a success, and the dog was safely transported to AACL-JHB. Kudos to Inspector Ntsoane and Khutso for their quick thinking and teamwork!
Our social media during PawGust will be abuzz with all thing’s puppies and kittens. We will have adoptions, “need to know” educational information and fun facts.
Make sure you join us daily or you could miss out!

When three adventurous guys decided to embark on an epic journey filled with grit, determination, and a whole lot of fun, they knew it would be a challenge. Their adventure began on May 26, 2024, but day 1 was a tough one, plagued with vehicle troubles and flat tires. Undeterred, "Die Drie Ou Ballies," fixed their van, and by day 3, they were back on track, pedaling from Johannesburg to Cape Town to raise funds for animals in need.
As their journey nears its end, we invite you to support their achievements. Turn their hard-earned kilometers into rands by raising money for the animals in our care. Your generosity will assist in providing essential blankets and jerseys for animals for the chilly winter months.
By the end of their journey, they will have covered about 1600 kilometers. Support them by donating R160 today. Animal Anti-Cruelty League JHB, FNB acc no: 50380046810 Ref: drieouballies
Let's make every kilometer count. Together, we can give a warmer winter for our beloved animals! @DieDrieOuBallies #DieDrieOuBallies
Here are some of the wonderful adoptions we have done recently.
We thank all the new families for opening their hearts and homes to their new family members.#adoptapet

*Day 1*
The day had finally arrived for the three old friends to set off. After months of planning and weeks of packing, they were ready at Princess Crossing in Roodepoort. Deon took the lead but quickly had to make a U-turn after missing the exit. Everyone laughed and waved goodbye.
Just before 10 a.m. outside Carltonville, they had their first flat tire. Soon back on the road, the van broke down again after 66 km—the rotor was done. A cyclist, Arthur Rabuthu, stopped to help. He tried to find the part in town but returned empty-handed. Arthur was the first "magic" person they met.
Allie arrived with tools, but the problem was bigger than expected. While Deon waited for a tow truck, Eddie and Frank continued to Potchefstroom.
At dusk, they reached their first stop. Retha and Gert welcomed them with coffee, showers, and a meal—another two "magic" people. Arthur later called to check on them.
The men spent 5 hours and 50 minutes riding, covering 116 km. As Deon said, "A day full of action."
Good night, you three. More updates tomorrow.
