Orange Grove Vet Orange Grove Veterinary Hospital was established in 1947 and has Hospital Accreditation by SAVA. The Orange Grove Veterinary Hospital (O.G.V.H.)

The facilities include a consulting rooms, radiographic, theatre facilities, hospital kennels and a grooming parlour. was established in 1947. The hospital complies with the strict standards for veterinary hospitals as determined by the South African Veterinary Council (SAVA) and has been awarded Hospital Accreditation by the South African Veterinary Association. The facilities include a reception

area and waiting room, consulting rooms, radiographic and theatre facilities and hospital kennels which cater for intensive care, isolation and boarding. The Hospital utilizes the most modern equipment and technology and is an officially approved teaching facility. The Hospital is equipped to perform all types of surgical and diagnostic procedures, including routine laboratory diagnostic services, X-ray and ECG examinations. Specialist ultrasonography can also be arranged by appointment. Our clients can expect to receive help and information on any topic concerning their pets' health. Information sheets are available on a variety of topics. Preventative medicine, the cornerstone of modern veterinary practice, caters for routine annual health checks, vaccinations, heart and kidney assessment, dental and oral health evaluations and special treatment with the needs of the older pet particularly in mind. Weight assessment, dietary advice, de-worming and flea control advice is also available.

We wanted to inform you about an upcoming price adjustment for Hill's Prescription and Science Plan foods. Effective 21 January 2025, Hill's will be implementing a modest price increase across a limited number of products. This marks their first adjustment since September 2023.

At Hill’s, they recognise how important pricing is for ensuring accessibility, affordability, and value for pet parents. To help minimise the impact, they have maintained current pricing on several key categories, including:
🐾 Science Plan Canine dry lifestage
🐾 Science Plan special care chicken products
🐾 Prescription Diet Metabolic + Mobility, Metabolic, Derm Complete, k/d, and z/d dry
🐾 Loaf cans and pouches for both brands

The average increase is 2.2%, with many essential lines remaining unchanged.

🚨 Protect Your Pets from Biliary and Tick-Bite Fever! 🚨

At Orange Grove Vet, we've seen an increase in dogs coming into our practice with biliary (tick-bite fever) and even ticks still attached. This dangerous condition can be life-threatening, but the good news is that prevention is simple and effective.
🛡️ How to Protect Your Pet:
1️⃣ Tick & Flea Prevention: Regularly treat your pet with tick and flea treatments available at your vet or vet shop. Consistent protection is key!
2️⃣ Check Your Pet: After walks or outdoor play, inspect your pet’s coat for ticks. Pay extra attention to areas like behind the ears, under the legs, and around the tail.
3️⃣ Know the Signs: Symptoms of biliary include lethargy, loss of appetite, pale gums, and dark urine. If you notice any of these signs, contact us immediately!

While most cases we’re seeing are tick-related, fleas are also thriving due to recent heavy rainfall. Protect your pet from both ticks AND fleas to keep them healthy and comfortable.

Herbie, the Bassett Hound is one of our favourite pups at Orange Grove Vet! He is a frequent visitor to the @pamperedpetsgroom, where he receives regular medicated baths for his skin condition. Gift, our groomer, is using his new massage glove to lather in the special shampoo. Once done, Herbie has to wait 10 minutes to ensure he gets the full benefits from the shampoo.
