It's been a year, so let's repeat!

Hoof deformities depend on horse's conformation and posture and therefore occur in specific patterns.

Recognizing those patterns not only gives us more understanding about the forces being at play and the load distribution over the hoof capsule, but also may help us decide what actions to take when it comes to addressing those deformities.

Beautiful image of the following structures- bottom to top

Digital cushion
Deep digital flexor tendon
Short Pastern- not the navicular
Long pastern.

It’s not the navicular as it a cut made behind it.

Notice the white thread like structures in the digital cushion. There are like a trampoline for supporting the weight of the horse as it weightbears, and helps to allow rebound of the digital cushion as it springs back to its original shape.
