🐰 Rabbit Mythbusters Series #11: “Rabbits Don't Need Companionship”
🚫 Myth: “Rabbits are fine living alone. They're independent animals.”
✅ Truth: Rabbits are highly social creatures who thrive with companionship. In the wild, they live in large groups for safety, comfort, and emotional wellbeing. While humans can offer love and care, most rabbits still benefit deeply from having another rabbit by their side.
Here’s why companionship matters:
🐇 Rabbits Bond for Life
A bonded pair of rabbits will groom each other, snuggle, explore together, and provide mutual comfort in ways we simply can’t replicate.
😞 Lonely Rabbits Can Become Depressed
Solo buns often show signs of loneliness, lethargy, lack of appetite, destructive behaviors, or over-grooming. These aren’t “quirks.” They’re signs of emotional distress.
🤝 Bonded Pairs Are Easier to Care For Than You’d Think
Once bonded, rabbits entertain and comfort each other. That can mean less stress for you and a much more enriched life for them.
❤️ Watching Two Rabbits Love Each Other is Pure Joy
There’s nothing quite like seeing two bonded bunnies grooming, playing, or flopped next to each other in perfect peace.
🐾 At Rabbit Runaway Orphanage, we specialize in bonding and rehoming pairs or helping you find a friend for your current bunny. All rabbits are desexed before bonding, which makes the process safer and more successful.
