Haverhill Théone (Asia) had to have an emergency spay yesterday morning after being diagnosed with pyometra. Asia is recovering fine and set to shoot her small role in a local film tomorrow evening however this does mean that there will be no puppies out of this beautiful girl. The most important thing for us as a family is that Asia is healthy and happy. Pyometra affects up to 50% of unspayed female dogs and is the biggest reproductive disease in dogs. The causes for it are not fully known as there are multiple reasons as to why it may develop, it can become life threatening very quickly. The best and most effective way to treat it is to spay the female. To those who were hoping for a puppy from Asia we are truly sorry that this is the outcome but I am sure you will agree a happy healthy dog is far more important. For now Haverhill Dobermanns breeding plans are on hold till further notice. I will let you all know if plans should change.
