FBI is a South African Flyball Team, based at Birchacres Dog Training Club, with over 14 competing dogs at the moment, FBI is the oldest competing club in SA.

Teamwork, Fun and Sportsmanship are what we are all about!

Texas, our much loved "bull in a china shop" red dog, owned by Christine Seller, ran a new SA singles record!
The fastest electronically timed run in South Africa, 3.78 seconds.
So so proud of this boy. The hard work and dedication pays off!

Natal Border Collie Club (day 3 of the KUSA KZN Classic weekend)

Once again we found ourselves back to behind the breed ring as the grass in the flyball ring was still not cut! 😠

Sunday Funday in the lanes - the theme "dress up as a song"! (No one said we needed to sing; nevermind know the words! 🤪🤩

Congrats to Locomotion for retaining "The green blob 🟢 trophy and their excellent performance of "How much is the doggy in the window". Second place went to FBI Access Denied with "Liewe Heksie".

Then we got into more serious mode to conclude the weekend's racing.

1st: FBI Special Ops - (Esca Flynn Keen Pace Rapid Sonic) 17.92s
2nd: Locomotion Smokin (Bruno Bullet Lily Quest Squid) 22.03s
3rd: FBI Access Denied - (CoCo Quade Quinn West Wow Ziva) 20.35s
4th: FBI Bulletproof - (Bella Coal Marley Marmite Neo Ruben) 20.96s

Unfortunate withdrawal from Locomotion Electrified who was left with only 3 dogs and unable to race but rather safe than sorry. A brave, but correct decision from the team to put one of their dog's welfare first.

We ran best of 3 heats round robin under judge Deanna and thereafter handed out the weekend's fun awards.

And then it was time to bid farewell to the home team whom we will hopefully meet in the lanes in 2025 in Cape Town!

KUSA Nationals (day 2 of the KUSA KZN Classic weekend) on 01 June 2024.

The flyball arena's grass was still not cut and we were informed to use any of the other open rings to set up. We "highjacked" the Rally ring and the lanes were marked out and set up in no time.

Three teams ended on the same number of points after completing the round robin event (FBI Special Ops, FBI Access Denied and Locomotion Electrified) and judge Regan ran an additional 1 heat round robin race to determine the placings. Nationals is not Nationals without some excitement!

1st: FBI Special Ops - (Esca Flynn Keen Pace Rapid Sonic) 17.41s
2nd: FBI Access Denied - (CoCo Neo Quinn Quade Wow Ziva) 19.73s
3rd: Locomotion Electrified (Ellie Enzo Queenie Wit; sadly Inca was withdrawn due to a hock injury) 19.12s
4th: FBI Bulletproof - (Bella Coal Marley Marmite Ruben) 21.26s
5th: Locomotion Smokin (Bullet Bruno Lily Quest Squid) 23.78s

Natalie and Wow received their FDX award and Milva and Neo got their One & Only title (subject to KUSA ratification).

The award ceremony for all the dogsport events was later the afternoon where team members received dog food, rosette and a treat pack. The trophy was also awarded to the winning team.

KUSA Championship show (day 1 of the KUSA KZN Classic weekend) done and dusted. The morning started with flyball moving to behind the breed rings as the grass was not cut in the designated arena. Flyballers are a resilient bunch and moved the equipment across and were set to go only 10 minutes late.

1st: FBI Special Ops - (Esca Flynn Keen Pace Rapid Sonic) 17.31s
2nd: FBI Access Denied - (CoCo Neo Quinn West Wow Ziva) 20.73s
3rd: FBI Bulletproof - (Bella Coal Marley Marmite Ruben) 20.78s
4th: Locomotion Smokin (Bullet, Enzo, Inca Squid) 24.04s

All 3 FBI teams were on equal scores after completion of the round robin event and the judge went on fastest time to determine placings.

Mariska and Flynn received their FDA award and Natalie and Pace became grand champions (subject to KUSA ratification).

Tomorrow is the main event namely KUSA Nationals and we are all ready and looking forward to the competition!

Yesterday all handlers from FBI finally arrived in Durban.
Some have even been to the beach already!
And today, we start of thr KUSA classic weekend.

KZN, the greenies are on the way!
Tomorrow, most of the FBI handlers will he traveling to KZN for the KUSA classic Weekend. 3 team members have already arrived and will have a nice break tomorrow.

In October 2023 FBI traveled all the way south to Cape Town to compete in Nationals. It was a fantastic weekend in the flyball lanes even though us Gautengers arent used to the crazy Cape winds!
We beat out extremely tough competition to bring home the Win! (Cape Town won in 2022 in Gauteng)
FBI Special Ops won the competition in a best time of 17:53
The lineup was Jacques & Keen, Shannon & Brave, Natalie & Pace, George & Bella, Melissa & Esca, Christine & Texas, with Dillynn as Boxloader.

New box number 2 is finally finished and apart from small adjustments, it was a "hit"! Everyone is exercising fingers to box load. 🤪 First time we have used locally manufactured thrusters ... and they worked brilliantly! Thanks Martin van Wyk!

Natalie running Wow in her very first competition. An absolute brilliant start to her flybal journey! She ran like a pro with no mistakes.

Our other intermediate dog, Arizona (1st dog), first time without barriers, doing great runs with some of the more experienced dogs Flynn, Marley and Blush.

Our intermediate flyball dogs doing some team runs. We are having a bubbly on Wednesday courtesy of Dillynn and Carbon, who, for the first time since Carbon started flyball training, did perfect box turns on all his runs. Not one stretch to take the ball! We are so proud of Wow, Carbon, Mythic and Charlie. Yes, crosses are still wide as all dogs are inexperienced, but really running good times of under 23s. One can only imagine if these dogs start competing! Martin suggested we call them FBI Spitfire (but think it might be more appropriate for Rapid's team! 😝)

Wow ... First time on the box and doing fantastic turns.

One of our upcoming youngsters, Mythic. First time on a flyball box this afternoon. Really impressive. Practicing first without a ball.

1st FBI dogs on the new box! Waiting for our other teammates who had a valentines night, a study night or a work night. Next week Marley, Texas, Rapid, Pace, Keen, Brave, Jag, Riley, Blush, Rubem and Dara!
