Great to be able to make a difference in our community working with Domestic Animal Care - Kenton on Sea and Kariega Veterinary Clinic 🐾✨️

Thank you to our amazing volunteers for always jumping in to help 🙋🏽‍♂️ 🙋‍♀️🙋🏽🚑 🙌

Layla is such a sweetie from Ekuphumleni. She was steried last month but Dr Lisa Kariega Veterinary Clinic - Kariega Community Vet Clinic - KCVC diagnosed TVT- (Transmissible venereal tumors are cancerous tumors of the genitalia in dogs).

That means Layla has to visit Dr Lisa every Friday for chemo injections for up to 6 weeks. We have had very good results with the chemo treatments and the dogs do not display any side affects. They love their weekly visits to the clinic where the staff spoil them with treats.

The Eku Paws volunteers have now taken up the task of fetching her weekly from her home and taking her home again after treatment. This really helps our small team of volunteers who transport the 6 steri dogs weekly to the clinic and home again. 💕🐾💕 It truly takes a village of volunteers to help transport our community furkids for veterinary care. Thank you from all of those who cannot speak for themselves. 💕🐾🐾💕

🐾 Happy Tails🐾 Ekuphumleni furkid, Jessie, was chosen to be pampered by the Sassy team as part of their contribution to our communities. A massive THANK YOU to the Sassy Dog Parlour team for their incredible kindness and compassion💕🐾💕🐾💕

Jessie had already popped up on Domestic Animal Care - Kenton on Sea's radar... Jessie grew up in Marselle. Her owner asked Verona to “take him!” and she'd put him on a short chain.
Sylvia from Ekuphumleni was looking for a “furkid” she could love and would live inside with her. So Verona introduced Jessie to Sylvia - Sylvia said YES PLEASE!!! And the rest is history! Jessie loves his human and stays close. He is often seen following Sylvia when she works in the streets of Eku.

: An Ekuphumleni family contacted William, our local Ekupaws guy on the ground, requesting help with a sick puppy. "Naughty" was collected by one of our volunteers along with William and taken to Kariega Veterinary Clinic. Naughty spent four nights at the Vets and crept into everyone's heart! He was so happy to go home to his overjoyed Mom.

A massive thank you to the amazing Kariega Vet team and our friends at Domestic Animal Care - Kenton on Sea for making all this possible.

DATE CHANGE - due to unforeseen circumstances, the Kenton Krufts Dog Show & Fundraiser has been moved to Saturday, 28th September 2024 @ 10am-12pm at the Kenton Primary School field.

Enter your dog @ the Kenton Tourism Office before Wednesday, 18th September. Cost is R100 per category - check out the poster for the categories.

Join us for a morning of family fun for a great cause! Only well-behaved dog owners allowed & dogs must be on lead at all times.

🐾 Happy Tails🐾

Huis Pleins (Hess Plains) furkid, Bati (AKA Dodgy) was chosen to be pampered by the Sassy team as part of their . Afterwards, he was taken to Kariega Vet Clinic for a check-up and an overnight stay.

Bati had already popped up on Domestic Animal Care (DAC) Kenton's radar as there were concerns that he'd been abandoned and was not been taken care of or fed.

He was added to the kennels list by DAC Kenton's Verona, who is the ground team organiser for Belinda Wolff's kennel project.

After his massive day & night in town, Bati was given the all clear and was returned to a family in Huis Pleins with a kennel, food, a blanket and bed. William, our local Eku paw champion has spent the last week checking in daily with Bati and his family; and so far, so good.

📢 Introducing Eku Paws! 🐾

We are excited to announce a new initiative in Kenton to support dogs in need in Ekuphumleni. Eku Paws is a dedicated group of volunteers working hand in hand with the community, Domestic Animal Care Kenton, Kariega Vet Clinic, and the Kariega Foundation.

Our main goals include conducting a dog census, supporting the local sterilization drive with consent forms, and promoting overall animal well-being and welfare. Education is one of our top priorities, and sustainability is our ultimate aim.

Join us for our first fundraiser, the Kenton Krufts Dog Show, on Sunday, August 25th, 2024. Come support our cause and help us make a difference!
