Houtema River Cabins

The Privately owned Houtema River Cabins is situated on the Kogelberg Nature Reserve Entrance Road about 1h30 drive from Cape Town. The cabins are built on the banks of the Palmiet River, situated within the Kogelberg Biosphere and the Heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. There are approximately 1800 flora species within the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve of which 77 are endemic and occur no where else

in the world. The cabins are totally off-grid and run on solar power. The Cabins comprise of an open plan kitchen and living area, separate bathroom and toilet, main bedroom with Queen size bed and a second bedroom with 2 Single beds. Being situated in a High Fire Risk area each cabin is equipped with a Cadac Gas Braai as well as a Closed Combustion Fireplace for those chilly winter days. Activities and attractions include hiking and biking in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve, River Rafting, Sandboarding and the Wild Horses of Rooisand, just to name a few.
