So, you wanted that cute black and white puppy. You took her home and adored those big puppy eyes, that puppy breath, the wiggling butt and her funny antics. Fast forward a few years...how did she end up at a shelter?
How quickly did you get bored of her? Did you lose your patience with her? Did you just leave her all alone outside, feeling abandoned and alone? Do you know she is sitting in a shelter kennel waiting for you?
Dogs don't forget their owners. They are loyal, loving companions that deserve better.
This precious girl needs to find that person that commits to the responsibility of caring for her and loving her for the rest of her life.
All dogs deserve good homes, but not all homes deserve a dog.

Our furbabies received their gifts from Santa Cause for Paws, what excitement we had, the two brothers Gus and Grady couldn't contain themselves!!! 🎊

GUS is the last of the six puppies that were born at KAWS, his brother Grady is being adopted. Gus, has watched his other siblings leave 😢 It's now his chance to find the loving home he deserves.

Cooper is quite the character with a wonderful outgoing personality and playful nature.
He has come a long way since he was found as a stray in Botrivier. Cooper has goofy, one ear up and one ear down ears, and a head that c***s from side to side when you whistle at him.
He is loves his walks and our be prefect for an active family lifestyle. He needs access to spacious garden space with a secure perimeter. Cooper is delightful and is ready to meet you! ❤️

Bruno enjoys interacting with staff and volunteers. He loves a ball game and enjoys his walks- sniffing everything along the route. Bruno could be a match for teenage children and we do recommend he has access to a secure garden space to play in and enjoy.
He is bright and learns new things quickly, he is sweet and could be a loving companion for any lifestyle.

Buddy is the gorgeous boy who 'booked' himself into KAWS on 23 May, we immediately posted him on our page looking for his owner, unfortunately no one came to claim him.

Buddy is one of the sweetest boys, he gets on with other dogs, loves his walks and would make the perfect 'buddy' for anyone, he is looking forward to finding a home where he will loved and looked after 🐶

🌍 International Animal Rights Day: Honouring All Beings 🐾

Every year on 10th December, we unite to recognise animals as sentient beings who deserve the same care, respect, and protection that we wish for ourselves.

This powerful day coincides with Human Rights Day to underline the shared connection between human and animal rights, and to remind us that compassion should know no boundaries.

🐾 Why is International Animal Rights Day important?
Animals feel joy, fear, pain, and love—just like us. Yet, countless animals suffer worldwide due to human exploitation. This day serves as a call to action, urging us to rethink our attitudes toward animals, advocate for their welfare, and build a more compassionate society.

Many nations are already leading the way:
Spain’s Law 17/2021 recognises animals as sentient beings and even considers them family members.
The UK’s Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act of 2022 ensures animal protection is factored into policy decisions.
Countries like New Zealand, Peru, and Sweden have adopted similar laws, valuing the intrinsic worth and well-being of animals.
These laws change the way animals are seen—not as property, but as beings deserving care and dignity. Enshrining sentience in legislation creates a standard for ethical treatment and encourages societies to respect the intrinsic value of all animals.

🌱 What Can You Do?
- Advocate: Raise awareness about animal sentience and welfare laws in your community.
- Support: Donate to or volunteer with organisations fighting for animal rights.
- Reflect: Make compassionate choices in your daily life—whether it’s adopting a pet, choosing cruelty-free products, or reducing your environmental impact.

We arrived this morning to find all our kennels flooded!😢 The Wendy houses helped to give them cover but once the dogs stepped out of them they were surrounded by water. Our staff moved most of the dogs into holding kennels with blankets and warm food, this is only a short term solution. Meet Dixie! 🐶 This girl is the most gentle, sweet natured doggie. In the short time she has been with us Dixie has overcome her fears, discovered what grass is, loves her walks and her true character has come through!

Peanut was found fending for himself on the streets of Kleinmond. He was taken into foster care where he thrived! He now urgently needs to find his forever home. Peanut is a gentle boy and would make a wonderful companion, he has also discovered that swimming is the best thing ever!! Please call Karin at our office 028 271 5004 for more information. 🐾❤️🐾
