Dr. van Tonder het haar kwalifikasie in 2018 voltooi en haar gemeenskapsdiens by Louis Trichardt in 2019 gedoen. Sy bring waardevolle ondervinding as 'n voormalige locum veearts, en haar professionele belangstellings sluit sowel wild- as klein diere in.

Haar liefde vir diere strek ook na haar persoonlike lewe – sy is die trotse eienaar van 8 honde🐶, 4 katte🐱 en 1 perd🐴.

Kom loer gerus in – sy sal met ’n glimlag en liefde na jou viervoet-kind omsien!
Ons sien daarna uit om haar saam met julle te verwelkom.

🐈 Feline panleukopenia 😺

- Panleukopenia is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease that has recently been diagnosed again after a few years of extinction in the Kosh area🏢

- Feline Panleukopenia is cause by a virus called feline parvovirus (FPV)🦠🦠.

- Kittens are most severely affected, especially unvaccinated kittens, but sick and adult cats can also be affected💨💨.

- The FPV attacks all the rapid dividing cells in the kittens body, like bone marrow, intestinal cells, lymphnodes, etc., causing the depletion of white blood cells (panleukopenia).

-This virus is spread through the environment by any bodily fluids of an affected cat and the mother can pass it to the unborn kittens as well.

- Clinical signs include diahroea, vomition, lethargic, loss of appetite, fever and painful abdomen 🤧

Diagnosis:🔬
- Diagnosis is based on clinical signs and history.
- Blood works and histopathology 🩸.

Treatment:💉
- 90% of affected kittens will die
- Treatment of these patients normally includes only supportive treatment protocol.

Prevention:✋️✋️
- Vaccination is the best way to prevent this disease from occurring.
- This virus is included in the 3 in 1 vaccine available at KDH.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO VACCINATE YOUR KITTEN @ 6 weeks, 9 weeks and 12 weeks of age, and adult cats yearly.
