Happy Caturday! Recently MADELEINE ate a frog ... and regretted all her life choices. But when you've been in the cattery for a whole year you have to get your thrills somehow.

(She's totally fine now, don't worry, but she does still need a forever home!)

These two siblings have been with us since June.
They've been at every puppy adoption we've had since.

Yet still they sit in wait.

DEWEY & LOUIS are 5 month old males with so much love to give.
They're lively, energetic boys who would do well in an active home, where they will be nurtured and guided to be the best boys they be.

ohhhh Sonny boy!

Surely you have seen this boy posted on our page before?
If you haven't, here's a little back story for you;
Sonny has been at the kennels since he was about 6 weeks old.
Unfortunately his gorgeous little face didn't make a big enough impact on the world for him to be adopted as a pup so he had to grow up in the kennels, but here's hoping his 9 month old face makes an impact and changes his world right round because if we're honest, Sonny is NOT happy. But who would be in these circumstances.

Sonny is stressed and unhappy. He needs a family. He needs love. He needs to play and experience the world the way he deserves.
His once bright, lively disposition is now a mere shadow.
We know that the right home will bring all that sonshine right back and that he will live up to the name we gave him and be the Sonny boy we know and love.

Sonny needs to be an only dog. He is great with kids.

IRIS is unhappy.

It's like her light has gone out. She used to be a sweet, quietly affectionate cat. Now, she barely moves from her spot and doesn't even look up for visitors. She used to get on with other cats, but now she doesn't want any of them near her.

It's heartbreaking, and the only thing we can do is ask for your help. Iris needs a home.

It's and we have so many generous people in our Circle, please forgive us if we accidentally forget one or two names.

Thanks to Hendrik Bester of ISHCA Water (next to Bosuns) for so donating a 25 litre water container to us. This has been placed on the bench at the field opposite KAWS to provide water for our dogs which are being walked on a daily basis.

Whilst we are on that - Knysna Sports Academy continue to make the lives of our dogs and volunteers so much easier by letting us use their field. Thank you!

Absolute Pets never cease to amaze js with their incredibly generous hearts. They arrived with a bakkie load of delicious and nutritious food for our dogs and cats. Thank you SO much for this amazing donation. Food is one of our biggest expenses, so this has helped more than you know.

We have had kids making jewelry to sell for money to give as a donation (thanks girls!!) , knitted blankets made, beds, cushions, food.... the list is endless. We have even had beautiful platters of food gifted to us for the 'good job we do'. This really boosts the spirits and reminds us that we ARE making a difference.

Our dedicated team of dog walkers who painstakingly walk every dog on the property, come rain or shine - you guys are true gems and we are so thankful for your time and energy that you give so selflessly. We have a team of cat volunteers too, some of whom visit every day. What lucky and happy kitties we have!

To the kids from the Kids Market who gave us food and cuddled the pups on Market day, and to Totties Country Market for inviting to celebrate your 3rd birthday - thank you!

Thank you to our foster moms who transform our babies from tiny and helpless into brave and strong. You are SO valued!

Thank you to everyone who has donated in any way - time, food, items for the shop.... every single item is valued and appreciated.

Last but not least, we would like to thank the team of Doctors and nurses at Knysna Provincial Hospital Maternity Ward for making sure that our newest little bundle joining the KAWS family was delivered safely. A healthy baby with 10 beautiful fingers and 10 beautiful toes.

KAWS isn't just the team of staff who keep the wheels turning. It's about all of YOU who make it possible!

We haven't had a in a while! We have some new faces in the house and they can't wait to meet YOU!

Our biggest boy, BALOO, is a big hunk of fluff and love. He is an older boy, but he is still really strong for his age. He would love a retirement home of his own.

TONY was picked up as a stray in town and never claimed. He is the sweetest boy with an incredible nature. Soft, happy and gets along with everyone.

SPIKE is a whole lot of busy mixed with a whole lot of handsome. He is only about a year old, very playful and has the most magnificent eyes.

HANK is also an older boy. He is a fluffy and gorgeous. He is an all-rounder who would do great in a home with other dogs.

Kitten season has begun!

This family is safe in foster care, and won't be ready for adoption for another 7 weeks. But we'll soon be getting many, many more!

You have to work a little to gain SABRINA's trust, but when you have it, you'll feel like the most special person in the world.

Sabrina is usually hiding under the furniture when you arrive in the cattery. With a little patience and a gentle approach, you'll soon discover one of the most loving cats at KAWS. She'll roll over at your feet for belly rubs, and follow you everywhere.

Is still a thing? Well at KAWS it is. Because who wouldn't crush on this big lump of love, STORM. He is a Rottie x Boerboel, and weighs 50kgs - he is a BIG boy (look, he could do with losing a few, he does loooooove treats)

Despite his size, he is easy to walk, he loves cuddles and smooches and is generally just a big teddy bear. He is about 2 years old, and would be best suited as an only dog for now.

DUKE is all things magnificent. This boy is a GSP x Weimaraner with a pitch black, shiny coat, and eyes so golden, he should have been in a James Bond movie.

He is around 18 months old and was surrendered to us from a home where there were other dogs and kids. He was being picked on (as is evident by the healed scar on his ear) at his previous home.

He enjoys the company of other dogs, and he is extremely smart. It's not often that we get his amazing mix of breeds surrendered to us, so don't delay in sending in your application to adopt him.

He will need a secure property as he is a little bit of a climber. We hope with the right family, he will have no need to try and escape

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone for sharing - Sparky went to a foster to adopt home today!

Many of you may recognize SPARKY - She has spent most of her life tied to a boat along the lagoon edge. We received so many calls for her well-being. A few weeks ago, she came into our care as her owner was taken to hospital.

Unfortunately, we received the very sad news last week that her owner passed away, so SPARKY is now looking for a new home - one where she can run free and play. She is about a year old, loves to play with other dogs and would do well with an active family.

Because she didn't get the training she needed as a pup, whoever adopts this beautiful girl would be advised to go through a basic training course with her, so she can learn to trust her new family and she becomes secure in the knowledge that she is loved completely.

Happy Caturday!

Recently a new friendship has been forming in the cattery. Both boys were found dumped in our holding kennels at different times, and they've got the same sweet, calm energy, so it's no wonder they've drifted closer.

We have been inundated with strays this week. These two mamas gave birth under someone's house. 15 puppies in total. If these dogs belong to you - please get in touch with us. We did leave a note at the people we think own the dog, but have not heard back.

Are you looking for a companion, who isn't too high energy, wants for nothing, and will be by your side to receive snacks at any moment? Then LOTUS is your girl.

She is overlooked every time someone is looking for a dog. Too plain? Too big? Too small? We don't know the reason - all we know is that she would make a family VERY happy.

What's her story? She was found dumped in our holding kennels - skinny and full of mange. Look at her now! She is a beautiful blonde bombshell.

She is a happy-go-lucky girl who gets on with other dogs, walks well on a lead, and is really no trouble at all. She is on the small side of medium.

She had some cruciate ligament issues, but thanks to some prolotherapy and physio, her legs are right at rain.

A true legend has fallen. Earlier today, we heard about the sudden passing of one of our biggest supporters, a man who quietly, yet steadfastly, cheered us on from the sidelines. David Abery, you changed the lives of so many animals, and you made us realise that there is still so much kindness to be found in this world.

We are sure you will be greeted by nose bumps and doggy kisses as you enter the gates of heaven. RIP and thank you for your unwavering support. Our love and condolences to his family and friends. 💔
