A little Vervet Monkey was bought into the Knysna Clinic from Ruigtevlei with a rectal prolapse. Dr Lamprecht performed surgery and we are so pleased that the monkey is recovering well. Soon to be released.
Today has been a ❄CHILLY❄ day, and it looks like your old pal needs an extra banket. Or at least it seems this way judging by the shivering. Or could it arthritic pain?🤔
Hill's is offering a free bag of their joint diet to newly diagnosed arthritic pets - cats and dogs. No prior kidney blood tests required to try it out.
Give us a call to find out more or book your golden oldie in for a check up.
For more info, we have a write-up on arthritis titled "Creaky Joints":

New Kid on the Block!!
Thank you to each and every one of you who helped with the renovtions, gardening, brain storming and home decor, our new HOME is now complete!
You can now find us at 1 Hoepoe Avenue in Sedgefield.
Thank you so much to Adele Van Zyl for our very pawsome Cake!!
This adorable baby fruit bat was brought to our Sedgefield branch by a member of the public a few days before Christmas. He LOVED mango and won some hearts! He is currently at Tenikwa rehabilitation center and is still doing well, enjoying his grub.
He was just too cute not to share, but sadly this baby heron had a very badly broken wing and sadly had to be euthanased.
It is heart-breaking not being able to save them all... but thank you from the bottom of our hearts to every local (and holiday maker), who is attentive to these helpless critters and makes the effort to get them to a place where they can get the best, necessary help.
We cannot always see what is happening out there, and to prevent suffering is sometimes the kindest thing we can do.
We avoid posting sad stories and try to always focus on the good news. Indeed lots of "wildlife" stories have a positive outcome with a successful release or transfer to rehabilitation center. For this little guy, life without a functioning wing would not have been a life lived in full. Every euthanasia breaks our heart, but quality of life beats suffering and fear.
For those not too squirmish - check out this ear mite from a rabbit as seen under the microscope. Poor bunny was found at the side of the road at Rondevlei🐰
Look out for our discussion on Parasites on our website later in the month.
Cats are much better at hiding pain and discomfort than dogs and sometimes it is not obvious that they suffer from joint problems.
If your cat displays any of these signs, please bring them in so that we can assess the problem and work out a plan to provide relief:
Stiffness when walking
Swollen joints
Lethargy and weakness
Reluctance to jump
Excessive grooming of the joints
Lameness or limping
Weight loss
Loss of appetite
Visible pain and discomfort
Angry temperament
General reduced activity and mobility
Our pets do many things for us, but let's not forget how they can entertain us.
This kitty has everyone ooohing and aaahing with the noises she makes when finding a treat.
This week we want to know about the pets that give you your daily dose of laughter around feeding time. Please share your videos or stories.
Our newsletter for the month is out and it is full of news on our 10% discount for first time online shoppers, help on stopping your dog from barking for no reason and our outreach successes for June and the year to date.

How cute is this first meeting between a parrot and his family's new puppy?
It makes our hearts melt!
A pedicure is considered therapeutic for us, but your 4-legged might not feel the same way about it. Why do they need a pedicure? Many dogs and cats never need their nails clipped, but for various reasons, some pets' nails do. Overgrown nails can grow into the footpads, causing pain and infection. Most pets' nails just needs a trim to keep them short and comfortable.
Sr. Jaconet Brink shows us how it's done.
If you are unsure whether your furry friend needs a nail clip, discuss it with your vet or vet nurse, and while you're there, pop them on the scale for a weight check before the winter starts!
Here's a fun activity to start the week and bond with your pup.
Set your phone camera to slow motion and call your dog's name to film their reaction.
Of course you must send us the video!
It's time to appreciate those tiny bodies with their huge personalities🤩🐶🐕🐶🐕 🤩
