⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ URGENT! ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
*Hello my dear supporters,* 🤗
💗Please read till the end.....💗
We have accepted in 3 new desperate rescues, of which 2 have been in need of medical attention, the one however was *very, very urgent*, which resulted in a whopping *R25k vet bill (with welfare discount)...* Of which we still owe *R17k* now, however this is not the end of her treatment...
We decided to go ahead with the massive surgery for our dear Teddy Bear (aka Spirit) for several reasons... - Our vet allowing us to pay this off.. - Her young age.. - Her chances of full recovery.. - and the wonderful quality of life she will experience in her future... *(after having lived in excruciating pain for 5 years without any medical intervention).*
I *do not* like to put a *price tag* on a *life*, I cannot put a monetary limit on veterinary care and euthanize an otherwise healthy animal that could be treated and even cured with medical treatment.. But yes, unfortunately not many specialized surgeries can be done through welfares... So, I do whatever I can to find a solution to this dilemma without taking a life.
Some may criticize my decisions, but I cannot look into her eyes and say, "I can't help you because I don't have enough money".. I just *can't give up* that easily.. Nor take a *life* which is *not mine to take*.. (if not suffering)
I always look for hope, and I always try to make a plan.. (I once sold a trailer I owned to pay a vet to save my dog).. Material objects can be replaced, but there is no undoing the death of a loved one..... 😢
This has however given a knock to SCARS, with our ever dwindling financial support due to the struggling economy, and our loving, kind supporters having to *tighten their belts*...
We find ourselves today in an *almighty pickle*..
*Scars has R30* currently after paying recent expenses, we have officially run out of electricity, we owe staff 5k+, and the shelter rent of 9k is due *very soon*...
To add to further complications, my car broke down 😭 costing me a further R4k, and I sat without a car for enough time to *cripple my own income*. I was unable to see clients which would normally aid in my paying the shelter expenses.... 😔
Today, *my car is fixed*, but I have *R7* in my *own account*, and I am literally stuck without fuel to get to my clients.
I furthermore (and most urgently to me now) owe an installment of 5k at the vet, and have now been listed at the credit bureau for being unable to pay our pathcare account. This is sadly what life has come to for so many people. But, I have to fight that much harder, because I have precious animal life in my care.
Many shelters have closed due to this economic crisis we all find ourselves in, but I refuse to give in and call it quits, we are hanging on by our fingernails, but anyone who knows me knows something *highly annoying* about me - *I don't know when to give up*.. And I refuse to, even though there are times I through in the towel and rant and cry. I have to get up again, because what happens if I don't.. I can't walk away even when I feel like I want to...
*How can I with the current rate at which animals are paying the price for human mistakes...*
I am tired of seeing abuse, starved dogs, chained up animals, euthanasia of healthy animals for moving house/immigration etc, medical neglect and the abandonment of innocent creatures who cannot speak or fend for themselves, and they have no say in the matter of *keeping their lives*, because humans would rather kill them and call it "gently putting to sleep", instead of dealing with the matter at the root cause, or finding an alternative solution to ending the life of a healthy or could be healthy domestic animal companion.. Every life has a will and want to live, until they have a will to let go.. But I do not believe for one second that these animals would go down willingly if they are healthy, and knew someone was about to s***f out their lives.
So here is the thing...
I would like to continue our work, and I know that together we can make a dent in the welfare of the animals which humans became responsible for by domestication. But we can't do it alone, and it is needed now more than ever before!
We are based in a very small community in Kalbaskraal, where 100's of animals remain unsterilised, starved, medically untreated, and deliberately bred for financial gain. Especially the Pitbull breed. We sadly do not take in Pitbulls, but that does not mean we cannot make their lives more comfortable, and educate their owners, as well as enforce the new law of mandatory sterilizations..
But us rescuers, all of us in AW, are having sleepless nights, knowing and watching these animals getting ill, or being bred and starved to death on a short chain with no shelter, food or water.. This has been my (and our) reality to watch for many years.. To the point where I have mentally broken down many times, and have many times irritated people by begging, while receiving the wrath of politics and lies and delusions, misinformation and nastiness of some folk, this sadly plagues this industry...
The thing is, if I don't humiliate myself somewhat, what will happen to these animals...
I look at their faces, *their broken spirits*, and the pain of wanting to help to the best of your ability, but not being able to.. It is torture to one's soul, to *watch them giving up*, or to see *a glimmer of hope* in their eyes when you hand them a handful of cardboard tasting bobtail/Martin or whatever bob (yes I have tasted it)...
This is agony to the caring folk who love these animals more than this life..
So I'm putting it out there, as raw and vulnerable as it makes me to tell you this - I am stuck in my car with no fuel, and I have run out of electricity. What else to do, but ask you, to help us fix this all...
So I'm putting it out there, hoping for a few said miracles, a R10 here, a R500 there, a R50 anywhere...
We are SPCA approved, and are very open to the public about where the money goes..
If you could, and would like to help us, there are *so many ways* in which you can help us....
Here are some direct of the direct monetary ways, where you will know exactly where your donation is going to with *zero doubt*...
