Fireworks can be frightening for pets because they are loud and unpredictable. Here are some tips to keep your pets safe during fireworks:
Keep them inside: Keep your pets inside when fireworks are going off.
Prepare a safe space: Create a safe space for your pet to hide in, like under a bed with some of your clothes.
Distract them: Play music or TV to mask the noise, or provide toys and treats to keep them distracted.
Stay calm: Stay calm and act normally around your pet.
Don't leave them alone: Don't leave your pet alone during fireworks.
Identify your pet: Make sure your pet has an ID tag and is microchipped.
Walk your dog: Walk your dog earlier in the day so they're tired before the fireworks start.
Close windows and curtains: Close windows and curtains to reduce noise.
Blackout your safe space: Blackout your safe space so your pet can't see any flashes outside.

Congratulations to Dr. Jennifer and her husband Ruan on the birth of their first baby.

Say hello to Jesse. "Our hearts are full; our joy knows no bounds. We're thrilled to announce the arrival of our baby boy."
Jesse was born on the 2 October 2024 at 2.30 pm with a weight of 3.3 kg.
He is a strong, healthy and feisty little boy.
The world just got a little more handsome!

A very happy birthday to Kaizer. Our longest standing employee. He has been working at Nelspruit Dierehospitaal for 37 years, and still going strong.

Tessa the Basset/Beagle cross dog got into a big accident!
She was treated at Nelspruit Animal Hospital for multiple fractures in her right hind limb.
The tibia was repaired with an intramedullary pin and cerclage wires, she also dislocated her femur head out of the pelvic joint! (as seen on the x-ray) The dislocation was addressed by doing a femur head and neck resection. The scar tissue that ensues helps to restore the pelvic joint as a functional joint!
Poor Tessa had to go through multiple surgeries, was brave enough to fight through all of them. She is currently at home healing well and starting with the recovery process! Another beautiful story in theater!
