SHELTERS are BeGGinG for HELP
*We are NOT MIRACLE WORKERS*
But we do take responsibility for those that don’t!
Sadly we are used as dumping grounds….
By even the networkers… as some of them will give a one-time donation and forget that we keep the dogs/cats until they get rehomed! If they don’t get homes fast they may spend years at the shelter becoming our responsibility health wise as well as their living costs become ours which we can only cover by constantly getting financial support.
Some of the networkers will NEVER bother to donate even R50. But will tell everyone when we cannot help as we run out of space, funds and food every now and then!
We are abused by those that would rather spend money on themselves instead of taking their animals to the vet for help. And some of these people have more than 5 animals….
We are every one’s best friend when they want a PUREBRED dog!
We get the puppies and kittens that are so cute but you cannot find homes for them because you will rather spend thousands on yourself or the kids for gifts instead of asking for help! But there are veterinary practitioners that are willing to help you when you don’t have the funds for sterilisations….yet every one has a smart phone to FACEBOOK and nobody ask for help from shelters or state veterinary practitioners!! Because nobody BOTHERS it becomes our Problem.
Some vets in the area are quite reasonable and will assist with paying off.
Then there are people that will overburden overflowing shelters by Phoning the shelter or SPCA to pick up a stray…. Running in the road and living outside on the streets and running from everyone is all they know. These dogs and cats learn quickly to become scavengers and trust nobody! If we have to chase after them, they risk being killed by a car. NO we don’t have MAGIC TRICKS we use to catch a stray!!
Where you claim you care, you should actually assist by networking or temporarily “fostering” the stray (even a garage or outside room will be sufficient)

She’s the only sibling left behind and all her sisters and brothers were adopted! She’s spent 6months of her life here and was brought in when they were a mere 5weeks old! It would be so sad to see her spend the rest of her life here! PurrPaws For Life is supposed to be a temporary living place and a rescue centre for those that need a home! She should get adopted and deserve to have a home of her own!! Soft and gentle temperament but so full of life and happiness! Help us change her life for good! Share to find her a home! Abandoned and Forgotten
These enclosures are just one part of the shelter dogs living areas….
They have been waiting for homes, some for more than 10yrs!
Some were born here as their mothers were brought in pregnant! Some were thrown away like garbage!
Some simply Abandoned on the streets!
The Pugs were replaced by other dogs….to breed with!
Some were living on the streets for most of their lives, scavenging for food!
Some were Abandoned by owners when they moved!
Some were surrendered because of costs for food or sterilisation.
Some were Dumped because they act aggressive…somehow we have never seen that side of their personality! Some found as strays, but never claimed or simply just surrendered because they don’t want to cope with their property not being secure. Some given away as FREE TO A GOOD HOME.
Some abused and some severely neglected and
Some lost their homes when their owners passed away…. It’s heartbreaking!
Some were just abandoned as unwanted.
This is what the world is really like out there! We need your support to help them. We have a regular number of Adoptions but the intakes cancel those numbers out.
Man’s Best Friend surely deserve better than a life of Abandonment, Neglect and Abuse….

This HEATWAVE is takings its toll!!
The furkids are battling and we have a shortage of shells and large ponds to keep everyone cool and comfortable!!
If you are able to assist even if you only donate a bag of cement, we could build more ponds for the furkids!
R100 is the average price for a bag o cement.
If you can assist you would be making the lives of so many furkids a bit easier in this heat! In the summer it will serve as a dual purpose for water access to drink as well!

Bella gets to be “skipped” for adoption every single time we have an enquiry for a daschund female, simply because she’s not PUREBRED!!

Don’t delay if you can afford to give a shelter dog a home, please network if you cannot! But be the difference in the community for them this year can end better than so many others that have nowhere to turn.
We find it frustrating to have to do reposting, especially with a pretty baby like this, but then when a pup so gorgeous is not taken Twice and we post him for the THIRD TIME, we will believe it was meant for the right reasons!!
We will find this simply gorgeous boy a home!!
He is a daschund cross Yorkie, and ready to start a life with his furrever family🐾🐾
He is with a foster in Deneysville at the moment and not at the shelter! All his siblings have been homed so far so this is the last boy still waiting!!
