A lot of people have been asking me for a trusted housesitter in the Vaal Triangle for their pets when they go away.
I know Cariska personally and therefore I have no hesitation in sharing her details.
You can also come meet her at the 50 Shades stall on the Wag ‘n Walk Day on the 28 July 2024.

Des and Carla came to visit. Our animals do not know the meaning of “ dogs on the floor guests on the couch”.
Jazzi thinks she is a lapdog.

Yvette's heart is rooted deep,
In her farm, where love does creep.
Horses, donkeys, goats by her side,
And geese, those "feathered fu***rs" she can't hide.
As sunset approaches, she'll take her seat,
On her swing, in the field, oh so sweet.
Watching the sky, with colors so bright,
Peaceful moments, pure delight.
With every breath, her soul feels free,
In her haven, wild and carefree.
Yvette's love for her farm, pure and true,
A haven for her heart, forever shining through.

Be Our Guest
21 June 2024
Winter's night, so calm and bright
Full moon shining with gentle light
Snowflakes dance, like diamonds rare
As moonbeams cast a silver glare
The world is hushed, in quiet sleep
As lunar radiance, our souls do keep
The night air crisp, with winter's chill
Is filled with magic, standing still
The full moon's glow, a beacon bright
Illuminates, the winter's night.

We had guests at the farm today and Jazzi stole the show.
These dogs have no idea of personal space, every person that visits is fair game.
Must love dogs 🐾🐾🐾❤️

So these birds had a small dilemma today. A baby must have fallen down the shoot and the mom was screaming her head off to get it to come back to the top. Dad was just sitting on the sideline watching the s**t show and then mom commandeered his services.
I was watching them thinking should I intervene. The mom was very upset. As I got up to get the ladder the baby must have flown back up because the mom literally plucked it out of the shoot. I swear I could hear her say:” You little fi$&er!” and then she had him/ her in her beak. There was a lot of preening going on by the onlooker in the side. Suppose that was the sister just thinking to herself: “Here we go again…”
The family then dusted themselves off and flew away. I laughed and laughed.

Just a few action shots of our day.
Lilo and Stitch soaking up the sun. The Grande Roux truck arrived with the ingredients for the months supper for our residents. Samantha Joy sat on the back of the truck but wasn’t impressed. She says the Goanywherevehicle is much better. Stinky refused to leave his warm bed for the farm today.
That’s all

Yesterday I built myself a ramp to get on my horse whilst Oupa and the cats watched on.
That ramp is fu&king high.
Just saying.
Haven’t tested it yet. It’s gonna be a SURPRISE if it too high. Just saying.

I believe it is Day of the Donkey today. I think it is an international celebrated day.
I just want to say that everyday is Day of the Donkey on our farm.

It must be love
Late afternoon

At some stage in our lives we no longer see that young, mischievous little horse that use to make your heart beat faster as you drive towards the stables wondering what sort of hell or heaven ride you were about to have; instead after many years of endless amounts shows, training, outrides, kilometres of travel and some goofy stuff; we now see a more mature, wise and ageing friend. Who can no longer give you what he/she use to, so the decision to retire comes to mind. But what does one do? Do you keep them with you or send them to another yard? Will they be cared for? What? When? How? Why? So many questions jump to mind when you find yourself having to makes decisions about the last leg of care for your beloved friend.
I understand all of this. I have six of my own that I share with my mom and there is just one major law we live by in our family. No one gets sold or given away. So they stay with us, until their last breath. We care for them and make sure they are happy.
When we competed and stabled our ponies/horses at yards, we were the pedantic owners - the difficult people - of the yard. I think the yard managers would give a little shudder when they saw us driving in or our names on the cellphone screen as it rang. We wanted the best for our four-legged family members. And nothing was too much when it came to their care. After a while we went solo, we found a place where we could rent stables and do everything ourselves.
So now we are our own worst enemies. As I said, we have 6 horses.....and....2 donkeys, 3 goats, and last but not least 2 sheep!
All 6 of our horses are in their senior years as well as the two rescued donkeys. I still have my very first pony that I received as a Christmas present in 1999. This year he will be turning 30! I won’t lie, it isn't easy looking after a senior horse. They come with more issues that you need to look out for. Missing teeth is one of those issues, as well as their mental state of mind. Not many horses enjoy retirement - going from stable to paddock then paddock to stable and mostly just eating - and I find that is a very difficult issue in itself to deal with. But the horse comes first, IN EVERY SINGLE WAY!
For this and many other issues, I wanted to be able to give a ‘final’ home to horses and ponies who have given their all to their owners, where they could be just what they were meant to be - a horse. If they allow it, they get to spend their final years in a yard were their is absolutely no stress, and no hustle-’n-bustle of a competing yard.
They get to spend their whole day leisurely in a large paddock either with others or alone, have lunch outside, and have all their oldie needs cared for on the highest level.
So, all I can say is that if you send your beloved friend to us at Be Our Guest Retirement Yard, they will be exactly that - our guest - and they will be treated with the utmost care and love as they spend their final years with us as part of our weird and wonderful family.
