We just love them all - great and small! These two beautiful, gentle giants came to visit the practice's parlour, The Groomery. It was fun having them (and yes, our wash station was big enough to give them a lekker wash :-D ).

PARVO SEASON:
We've had an influx of Parvo(Catflu) cases during the last couple of weeks.
This photo gives a small glimpse into the 'behind the scenes' in treating a Parvo patient and nursing your furry friends back to complete health.
Treating these sick and severely dehydrated patients involves critical intensive care and broad spectrum medicine treatment.
This is why an account for the hospitalisation of a Parvo patient can easily reach an amount of R5 000 - R7 000, not because the vet is 'money hungry' but treating Parvo patients includes: IV fluids, electrolytes, injections for nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain and antibiotics, constant monitoring and special feedings. (and then this treatment gets repeated twice a day).

"PREVENTION is CHEAPER than cure" - please ensure your animals are vaccinated at 6, 9 and 12 weeks of age against this dreaded and deadly disease.

A happy update on the African Harrier Hawk:
She was recently released in Kanonkop where she was found injured.
Unfortunately, we were not part of her release but the video taken shows that her wing has healed completely and she can fly strongly again.
We have heard reports that she is once again reunited with her mate.

We would love to see photos of her and her mate. Kindly share it in the comments below, so that everyone that rooted for her can see the happy ending for themselves!
