What started in the comfort of Liezl Gericke’s home was more than just a casual get-together—it was the birth of a movement. A space where laughter flowed as freely as wisdom, where self-discovery felt as natural as breathing, and where people began to uncover the power within themselves.

Fast forward to 2025, and that spark has grown into a fire. The cozy lounge could no longer contain the dreams that were taking flight, so we expanded. Welcome to The Dusty Saddle, our new home. And now, for the first time, this once "secret club" is open to you.

With a heart full of gratitude and positivity, I am excited to introduce another dynamic resident of our community.

Meet Greg Van Zyl, a passionate dog trainer and an incredible individual. Greg is the closest I have seen to a “dog whisperer”—he has an extraordinary connection with animals, especially dogs.
Not only is he talented with animals, but Greg is also a genuinely good person. He is always the first to volunteer, generously sponsors community initiatives, and is an active participant in our Snare Removal Initiative here in Blue Saddle Ranches .
Greg and his beautiful wife Carrianne are proud residents of BSR , and they’ve recently welcomed a bundle of joy, their little one, Hudson.

What a way to end the year – the BSR Pub Run was nothing short of legendary! Residents arrived at the clubhouse dressed to impress (and some to make us laugh), ready to walk, run, or ride their way into festive glory.

Our four pop-up bars were the real stars of the show!
First up, PA Rum PA Rum Rum, where the rum flowed smoother than Santa's sleigh.

Next, Jingle’s Jogs Hydration Station kept everyone refreshed and jingling all the way. Stop three?

The Naughty Who Hut – where some of you might have secured a permanent spot on Santa’s naughty list.

Stolen Cheer Tavern, featuring an epic water-gun tunnel that made sure no one left without a splash (and maybe a little revenge plotting for next year).

BSR, you showed up and showed out – here's to many more laughs, sips, and memories in the new year! Cheers!

Around here, it’s practically a rite of passage!

For those who don't know, one of our talented residents is a baking wizard. Meet Elmarie, the creative force behind The Bakehouse.

Elmarie has been whipping up delicious masterpieces for years. From show-stopping wedding cakes and adorable baby shower cupcakes to intricately decorated royal icing cookies and festive Christmas cakes, she does it all—and she does it brilliantly.

Looking for something sweet and unforgettable? Elmarie's got you covered (in icing, of course).

🎅About the Christmas Carols evening hosted by the Van Buuren family:

This past weekend, residents of Blue Saddle Ranches and friends gathered at the "Fun" Buuren Ranch for a heartwarming evening in support of children living with Rett Syndrome. Father Christmas made a special appearance, bringing joy as children eagerly shared their wish lists, posed for photos on his lap, and enjoyed festive treats.

The evening concluded with a heartfelt prayer and a touching explanation of how Father Christmas works for Jesus, followed by the much-loved Carols by Candlelight. Set against the stunning Blue Saddle sunset, with rumbling clouds adding to the magic, more than 120 attendees sang their hearts out while the children ensured their place on the 'nice list.'

I might get into serious trouble for saying this, but it’s totally worth it. It’s not every day you meet someone who radiates kindness, compassion, and an unstoppable drive to make the world a better place.

Meet Roelien, owner of Earth and Leaf. Her passion for gardening has blossomed into creating the most delicious treats under her brand, 'Tails' of Flavour. From flavored salts and pesto to handmade pasta and now festive stuffing, Roelien’s creations are nothing short of extraordinary. And here’s the best part—every single cent of profit goes to supporting our local animal welfare.

Sometimes, if I’m lucky, I get to visit her little sanctuary in Blue Saddle Ranches. Among the plants, with bees buzzing and chickens clucking, we chat about dreams of a kinder, greener world.

Roelien is also a proud part of The Happiness Project. She was one of the driving forces behind our recycling unit and is always deeply involved in the many charities we support here in BSR.

Thank you, Roelien, for reminding us all how much one person can achieve with a big heart and boundless passion.

As we embrace the festive season, we are reminded of those less fortunate. This week, we had the privilege of spreading joy in a special way. Roelien, from our Happiness Project, teamed up with Helen from Rainbow Nation Animals to visit the Randvaal Old Age Home.

Helen introduced Loofy, a lovable therapy dog, to the residents. Loofy’s role is to bring love, cuddles, and countless smiles, and he certainly succeeded!

We are also delighted to share that Boskind Creations donated an incredible sensory blankets, thoughtfully designed by Annalien (the owner), specifically for individuals with dementia. These blankets provide comfort and stimulation, helping to improve the quality of life for those who use them. For more information, visit www.boskindcreations.com
