This #WildlifeWednesday, we are excited to share a video of a bird close to all our hearts here at Mabula Game Lodge: the Southern Ground-Hornbill! These majestic birds, found in the savannas and woodlands of Africa, are known for their striking black plumage and vivid red facial and throat skin. Unlike most hornbills, they spend most of their time on the ground, hunting for insects, small mammals, and reptiles. These charismatic birds can live up to 50 years in the wild, making them one of the longest-lived bird species in Africa. Mabula Private Game Reserve has been home to the award-winning Mabula Ground Hornbill Project since 1999. Watch out for flying debri!! #FunFact Elephants are the only mammals that can't jump! This is largely due to their unique skeletal structure. When elephants walk, they actually walk on their tiptoes, with a layer of fat under their heel to help absorb the impact. This walking style is both a testament to their immense size and a reason why they move so silently, despite their massive weight. #WildlifeWednesday #Elephant #Wildlife #FunFact
We could spend the entire day marveling at this magnificent male lion. His face tells a story for those willing to listen. Which part of a lion captivates you the most? #WildlifeWednesday #kingofthejungle #MabulaPrivateGameReserve

A scene so serene, it reminds us of nature's effortless beauty and the spellbinding stories it weaves every day. #NatureMagic #ZebraReflection #MabulaPrivateGameReserve #Waterhole
