Poor Ludwig presented to us with the most severe symptoms of snail bait poisoning (metaldehyde toxicity). His temperature was life threateningly high from the severe seizures he was experiencing. Due to the swift action of his owners and prompt veterinary care; Ludwig survived and is almost back to his normal self at home.

We love having students from Onderstepoort do their practical experience with us. This week Zaid learnt a lot from observing the vets, and he got to put some of his theory into practice with us. We have a passion for teaching and helping young, soon to be Veterinarians.

Wang Wang came in for his neuter today. He was an abdominal cryptorchid. That means his testicles had not descended as they should into his sc***um. His were stuck in his abdomen. We surgically removed them. Testicles anywhere other than in the sc***um are predisposed to cancerous transformation and if he is allowed to breed the condition can be transfered to his offspring.

Megan has been our locum receptionist for over a year but has recently taken up a more permanent role at our practice. You will find Megan in the mornings at the front desk, answering the phones and interacting with our clients and their pets. Megan is currently studying BCom Accounting and has a special interest in horses. When she is not crunching numbers, she is making waves in the equestrian world. She recently performed very well in the local arena cross country event. Megan is a young lady of faith and loves the great outdoors, especially trail running and hiking. She has recently adopted Khaleezi; a beautiful Rottweiler from one of our good clients. Megan strives to have a positive impact on each individual who crosses her path, reflecting her commitment to making a meaningful difference.
