Watch out for the signs!

BEFORE THE DOG BITES

Unfortunately, there are situations where dog bites occur that could have been avoided had the victims recognised aggression warning signs.

Take note of the below to avoid these events, especially if you have large dogs and small children.

Tense Body Language – stiff body or ears pulled back
Dominating Body Language – tail and ears raised looking straight at you
Stalking Behaviour – staring intently at you without the usual “happy” signals of wagging tail
Growling – an immediate sign to remove yourself, another dog or child from the situation
Baring Teeth and Raised Lip – this is a sure sign of potential aggression
