Annie was not just our mascot at the AWARE Foundation; she was our daily companion at EarthPet. Complete Care for Horses: Euthanasia, Transport, and Bio-Burial

At EarthPet, we understand how difficult it is to say goodbye to your beloved horse. That’s why we offer a comprehensive and dignified farewell service to support you through this challenging time. As the only provider in the Western Cape to arrive in one specialised vehicle, stocked with equipment and medicine for the veterinarian to perform both euthanasia and immediate transport from your premises, we ensure your horse receives the utmost care and respect.

EUTHANASIA: Our compassionate veterinarian can perform euthanasia at your premises in cases where your own vet is not available, ensuring a peaceful and gentle process for your horse. Many veterinarians already refer clients to us for this service.
TRANSPORT: We have a transport service for the remains of horses to our premises with the highest level of care, using our specialised vehicle designed to treat your horse’s body with dignity and respect. Please coordinate with us ahead of time to ensure timely collection immediately following the euthanasia procedure.
BIO-BURIAL: At our facility, we perform an eco-friendly Bio-Burial, allowing your horse’s remains to return to the earth. With our Return of Compost service we can also return the humus your horse has contributed to.
PLAN AHEAD: Purchase our service in advance with a Pet Welfare Plan from EarthPet. This one-time payment ensures your horse will receive a Bio-Burial with transport when the time comes. What is the Return of Compost (ROC) option?
This is for pet owners who would like to keep the compost their pet’s remains contributed to and is a different option to the normal Bio-Burial. Your pet’s remains will be labelled and wrapped in a mesh covering which allows EarthPet to trace the compost at the end of our process. After the process has been completed (could be from 5 months to a year), we will retrieve the humus that your pet specifically contributed to and return all of it to you. This compost can then be mixed with soil and used in whichever way you feel will honour your pet’s memory. EarthPet will provide the seeds of specific indigenous trees to pet owners upon request.

Our newly branded fleet is standing by for you!
This friendly caddy is our “mobile vet” vehicle which travels around in the Cape Town area. Pet-owners can either have their pets collected for the purposes of euthanasia or we can come to respectfully collect the animal remains to be taken to our EarthPet facility for Bio-Burial or cremation.
