“Good-bye, a Tribute:
Truffles was a bonafide Goodboi! He was the epitome of happiness, eagerness to please and love. Truffles is…was my children’s first pet - of any kind. I decided to get him when we decided to homeschool our children back in 2011...
12 years and a few months after we first welcomed him into our home, we had to see him go. We always knew this day would come - eventually. But eventually didn’t come with a clear timestamp or adequate warning. Two weeks ago, we were still mentioning how he was the puppyest old dog we have ever encountered. Jumping, bounding, playing, giving cuddles, and just happiness all day. Then overnight he became mostly deaf; a few days later he started getting lane in his hind legs while playing with Ryan outside. We took him to the vet the next day. Possible brain tumor. Another tumor under his one armpit. A week later, he was an old dog. Riddled with bumps and lumps. Struggling to get up or lie down. Not able to raise himself on his hind legs or leap onto the bed. In pain at times and not wanting to be picked up. As well as a few other signs of rapid decline. Still, that morning as he went for his last walk, he was so excited and happy.
Now it is all over. It was a calm, peaceful, and heartbreakingly beautiful event. The vet that came to euthanize him, is awesome. He treated us so gently and everyone with so much kindness and respect. Explaining the process and giving us enough time to say goodbye. His assistant quietly helping and keeping a close eye on Dené through the whole process. I’m so grateful for the entire experience.
Truffles was the best first dog we could ever ask for. He was a performer. He was full of life, and excitement, but could also be so docile. He was extremely loving and would provide my children, so much comfort. We will miss the excitement he greets everyone with. We will miss his soft fur and curly head of hair and legs when we slack on the Schnauzer cut during winter. And also his soft, slick shiny coat in summer. We will miss the snuggles and the snores.
We will miss our dear Truffles (AKA: Mundelay Wellington)
