Free-roaming community dogs are a common sight, but many owners attempt to manage them using improvised collars and leads made from whatever materials they can find—ranging from chains and wires to ropes and electrical cables. While their efforts show care, these solutions are not always the safest or the most humane.

📢 Exciting News from South Africa! 🌍🐾

We are thrilled to announce that South African Rabies Centers of Excellence Hoedspruit AnimaL Outreach (HALO) and Animal Relief for Rural Communities (ARRC) were awarded the Stronger Together Grant!

These two recognized South African Rabies Centers of Excellence will collaborate to deliver a joint vaccination campaign targeting 2,000 dogs across several communities, helping protect dogs and people from rabies. 💉🐶

Igniting collaborative sparks!

Today some of the team joined forces with Hoedspruit AnimaL Outreach to help out at one of their busy outreach clinics .

Passionate hard work goes into keeping this organisation a success , for animals and humans alike and we are very excited to be able to forward plan efforts together for a rabies campaign program.

We will welcome the halo team in the coming months at our very own outreach clinic combining our experience and efficiency in creating an effective rabies program in attempts to control this deadly disease.

How to use binoculars proved to be quite challenging for the GoGos who attended Koru Camp this week but once they had mastered it there was no stopping them from eagerly looking for animals

Zazu gets sterilised!

Zazu came into season and was constantly being chased after by male dogs. Thankfully we were able to get to her in time! Thanks to Marga Verdeal we were able to sterilise Zazu and stop her from the cycle of unwanted puppies.

If you would like to sterilise a doggo, please see links below. It is R750 ($42) for a male dog or R950 ($54) for a female dog. Every donation helps us to help the animals of Selwane and we appreciate the help.

Exciting things come to those who wait!

WE HAVE NEWS!!

EXCITING NEWS!! 🗣️🔔

We are so very proud to share with you all, after many months of hard work, fundraising & incredible sponsors we have been able to start building foundations for ARRC’s very own animal shelter and clinic!

Nestled within Selwane where the team have been helping the community and animals lies a truly awesome piece of land of our very own . Here we have started building kennel facilities for dogs that will been treated and cared for by our veterinary team and a safe, secure and workable space for donkeys undergoing treatment and recuperation .

Our next wish is to have a purpose built facility for a workable veterinary clinic where we can treat sick and injured animals in Selwane and the surrounding community’s .

So much progress has been made in such a short time and we have been overwhelmed by generosity and support but we have so many more hurdles.

Whilst we make plans for 2025 we will need to implement and maintain sustainable water, power and running costs of the centre and we can only do this with your assistance and support . We are all very excited!

While our first priority is sterilization, we still need to look after the little ones that have been born. ‘Gugu’ and ‘Gaga’s’ mum has been sterilized and now we just need this two up to date and healthy. It was an unbelievably hot day for this month’s outreach, with temperatures touching 40’ But that didn’t deter the community of #selwane who are always eager to attend to ensure the health and happiness of their dogs. A massive 126 dogs were health checked, vaccinated against rabies and 5-in-1, dewormed and treated for ticks and fleas.
