Annnddd she did it!!

And we must say looking pretty fresh even after running a huge 21.1km!!

Congratulations Tracey Mobley our invaluable ARRC team member!

If you missed it … Tracey at the weekend ran a half marathon to raise funds for renovation and plumbing of the toilets at Mohlanatsi Irdp in Selwane.. and totally smashed it.

‘She definitely went the extra mile so others can go in style’!

The children at Mohlanatsi Irdp had a wonderful treat this week. Debonairs Pizza Phalaborwa & Tusk Motors generously gifted over one hundred flat breads and have pledged to provide the same on a weekly basis going forward.

What a commendable initiative to use the leftover pizza dough.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for supporting us and giving the children additional substance.

Our very own Tracey Mobley is taking on an incredible challenge this weekend — running her first-ever half marathon!

And she’s doing it for a cause very close to her heart: raising vital funds to renovate the ablution facilities at Mohlanatsi Irdp

If you’re able to, please consider donating to her fundraiser. Every contribution, big or small, will help give these children the clean, safe, and hygienic toilets they deserve.

You’ve got this, Trace! — we’re cheering you on every step of the way!!

Critical condition - emergency appeal for
Pretty.

Yesterday a team member rushed to Collect Pretty and get her into emergency care ,
another worrying suspected poisoning case.

Toxins can cause devastating damage to a dog’s body, seizures, organ failure, internal bleeding, and often death if not treated quickly.

Sadly, cases like Pretty’s are becoming more and more common in our communities.
We are urgently trying to get to the bottom of what toxins are being used, why this is happening, and whether it’s deliberate.
It’s an ongoing and deeply worrying battle that puts countless innocent animals at risk.

Pretty is now fighting and In the best hands but
She needs intensive veterinary treatment to survive and we would be so appreciative of any help with this .

Please, if you can, donate towards Pretty’s care. Every bit counts - updates to follow

Today is Family Day in South Africa — a reminder that family isn’t always defined by blood, but by care, connection, and shared lives.

In many rural communities, animals are integral members of the family unit. They work with us, protect us, and share in daily life. Whether it’s a donkey helping to fetch water or a dog guarding the home, these animals deserve recognition, respect, and care.

At ARRC, we advocate for the wellbeing of all animals, acknowledging their role in sustaining families and livelihoods. On this day, we honour the connection between people and animals and reaffirm our commitment to supporting both.

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter from the ARRC team and the children at Mohlanatsi Irdp

Last week during our sterilisation campaign, we were asked to help with a puppy that was non weight bearing on her right hind.
The owner wasn’t sure what happened but our veterinary team quickly gave Sibi pain relief and she was taken to the clinic.

Radiographs showed a fracture in the right hind. Thankfully we were able to place a splint and will now strict cage rest Sibi with weekly splint and bandage changes. In 6 weeks we will repeat a radiograph to ensure the fracture has healed.

Could you help us with the cost? Keeping Sibi in the clinic for 6 weeks with follow up X-rays and bandage changes will cost us around R3000 ($150).

Every little bit helps and we will keep you updated on her progress 🙏🏼

This week at ARRC we had the pleasure of welcoming the incredible team from awake outreach .

Veterinary specialists from around the world joined forces with ARRC’s full-time vets, Lani and Fernando, for a dynamic week of shared experiences, particularly focused on emergency care and the realities of community-based animal welfare work.

Over the week, the combined teams carried out dog sterilisations for the Selwane community at ARRC’s clinic and we had a very successful turn out!

The visit also created a valuable space for professional development, with a strong focus on upskilling in the orthopaedic area of veterinary medicine, allowing the team to deepen their knowledge and improve practical approaches in a hands-on environment.

The program also forms part of an ongoing collaboration with Hoedspruit AnimaL Outreach working closely together for the animals of the region .

The week wrapped up beautifully with everyone joining forces again for ARRC’s monthly community outreach clinics for dogs

Big thanks to Endangered Wildlife Trust EWT_Carnivores for the huge support enabling us to carry out the vital sterilisation campaign , with many more planned for the future.

for much needed equipment and materials

And last but not least the incredible team of awake outreach - thank you so much , we can’t wait to do it all again!
