Did you know that puppies are born deaf?

Hearing is the last of their senses to fully develop. In the same way that they are born with their eyes closed, they are born with closed ear canals.

They can't hear until they are about 3 weeks old! Once their hearing kicks in though, they hear about 4 times better than most people, including hearing a wider range of frequencies.

Right after birth, these little fur balls express themselves through a symphony of sounds, ranging from soft whimpers and gentle mews to more insistent yelps and persistent cries.

Their teeth typically develop between the ages of 5 and 6 weeks. Around 16 weeks, your puppy's baby teeth will start to fall out and adult teeth will appear. The worst week for a puppy teething in terms of symptoms are usually between 12 and 16 weeks.

Many people ask at what age their puppy will calm down; they usually do as they approach their maturity age at 12 months. For larger breeds it can be more likely to occur between 18 months and 2 years.
