We are so happy to announce that we had a great turn out for our FREE Rabies campaign from 25-27 September 2024.
A total of 338 animals were vaccinated over 3 days 💉
We are so grateful to everyone that brought their pets, to help the fight against rabies 🐶🐱

Meet Oortjies 🐶
He is 20 YEARS OLD today!
Little Oortjies is a regular at our practice, he has a few health issues, but he is a real fighter! 🥰
His owner, Ms Rina Erasmus, was kind enough to bake us all a big milk tart to help celebrate this amazing mile stone 🎂
His long and happy life is such a testimony to the special care his loving owner has given him over the years.

‼️ Exciting news 🎉
We have released our special Blue Duiker ❤️
Our little girl enjoyed her stay at @shamwari_wrc and healed up perfectly. We are so thankful to the dedicated team of carers at Shamwari. Without them, this success story would not have been possible!
We are sad to inform everyone that our special girl unfortunately lost her baby shortly after arriving at Shamwari 😔 She went through a lot of stress and trauma, which caused her to lose the baby. Although it is sad, we are very happy that the Blue Duiker survived, is doing well, and can have more babies in her long life ahead 🥰
The decision on where to release her was a difficult one because we wanted to bring her back to Port Alfred, especially since the community really came together to support her rehabilitation. Kowie Veterinary Clinic, together with the Ndlambe Municipality Animal Control Officer and Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, made the decision on which release site would be best.
We are happy to say we released her into a safe area, just outside of Port Alfred, where she can be in her natural habitat 🐾🌱 and away from the dangers of roads and cars!
We believe she will live a long, full, and happy life ❤️

Kowie Veterinary Clinic is a well equipped mixed practice that offer digital x-rays, ultrasound, fully equipped theatre, fully equipped laboratory, isolation unit, production animal services, herd health and mobile service for farm visits.

Dr. Lerey Fourie will no longer consult and care for your pets, as she has taken over the very important position as practice manager.
Dr. Willemien Jonck is the new addition to the Kowie Vet team. She joined the practice in January after completing her veterinary studies at the end of 2018 and did her compulsory community service year in Kroonstad. She is interested in large and small animal work.
Our team consist of 3 receptionists consisting of Sue Horn, Chantel Nel and Jackie Lischer. Colleen Venter retired after 12 years of excellent service.
Chansa, Arnot and Lourens will be assisting with patients. Steve is in charge of grooming. Beauty and Zoe will assist with cleaning around the clinic. All our staff take pride in their work and loves to work with the animals. Melvin sadly passed away during June and will be missed.
